Big Up's to Gettelmen

WOW!!

Look up draft needs for this team on most sites..

But again as a fan I can have my own opinion. . Imo this was a great draft to get WR'S. And I would have liked to grab 2 instead of Ealy in the 2nd. . Again that's my opinion. Ealy has been solid and a good pick but I would have still taken 2 Wr's in the best WR draft in Decades and had weapons for Cam secured.

I dont want our team to make picks based off of what any website says our needs are.

Big men win championships.

There is also a chance that we could have a defensive line that could be a force for years.. Why ignore that? That seems more valuable to me.

We have already put money and Picks into the Dline and probably will keep doing it. But like I said I still would have put that 2nd round pick into another pass catcher for Cam.. We truned over our Wr corp last off-season not our Dline. .

And we already had a lot of big men on defense. . What we haven't had is weapons for Cam.. How about we try that for once..

We are just gonna have to agree to disagree on this one..

When we have been at our best, its because of our pass rush.. Not our WRs.

Most of the recent superbowl winners had the same formula.  IMO, the patriots are the gold standard of consistency in the NFL.  They are at the top, and no one else comes very close.  They find new pass catchers every year.

You just cant have too many big men.

And like i've said we have used a lot of resources to have a Dline.. Imo this year was a nice time to do what a lot of teams do when they have a young QB. Get him weapons .

It worked out anyways so it's a mute point now.. Which is why I started this thread..

Great pick up wished it would have happened sooner. .

I know teams usually draft "the best player available". And yes, the Panthers did find some good ones, particularly on defense. So I'm not arguing with anyone here on GMAN's picks.

However, I do agree with you, that if Newton's going to make $15 mil next year, and more than likely $20 mil in the near future, the Panthers need to find him some more weapons. It's either that, or open up the offense, and/or utilize the underused weapons you may have (such as they did with Philly Brown). Otherwise, having so much money placed in your QB, and playing Shula/Rivera ball (always wanting to slow it down and run it, with every 10+ pt lead) makes no sense.

The Panthers need to be more aggressive on offense, one way or the other.

Totally agree. .

It's crazy to me we're going into another off-season questioning our Franchise QB or whether or not we should pay him...

Most teams who use a high pick on a QB surround him with weapons. So that they can answer this question with the highest confidence. .

And to be clear I'm totally on the " Pay Cam" bandwagon.

But I see the point if your going to run a Shula system and put all resources in the defense. . Then don't pay Cam and pick up a 3rd tier cheap QB and do what we've done 16 of our 20 years in existence. ...

IMO we still need to get rid of Shula... Put a few more weapons around Cam. And try and be a team that has a Franchise QB that consistently win 9- to double digit games a season. .

Yeah, the team shouldn't be committed to Rivera/Shula ball, cause Newton already proved he could throw it from the pocket when he walked into the league and generated the #5 offense.

The run game actually fed off him during the Chud Era, and even 2nd half of 2012. So they should be no doubts.

I think JR hiring Rivera and GMan separately is the problem. There appears to be divergent interest here. So hopefully, someone can/will figure out, you can't be devoted to playing one type of offense (slug ball), when you have a multidimensional QB who can, and has already gotten you big points. Just play aggressively every chance you get, until it's unnecessary.

It's either that, or fire Shula (as you suggested) or Rivera, unless GMan can convince them otherwise.
