Did you think he was a "real" HC before he had a ring?

Did you think he was a "real" HC when his team was getting blown out by Carolina in the playoffs? Carolina got blown out by AZ so they're even on that one.

Did you think he was a "real" HC when HIS team went ONE AND DONE in the playoffs this year JUST LIKE CAROLINA? Oops, they're even again.

Did you think that he was a "real" HC when his players were whining constantly to the press about him from 05-06? Players have never whined publicly about Fox. Score one for him.

Did you think he was a "real" HC when his 8-8 team snuck into the playoffs and got handled? I figure not since you complain about Fox and the 2006 8-8 season where they would have snuck in had Washington won the previous night. That was the very year the 8-8 NYG snuck in because they beat the Skins Sat night.

So, what we have here is results that aren't as much different from Fox's results as what you would propose.

I think Coughlin is a good coach, but he's not the huge upgrade you fantasize about.

Not only that, I heavily credit Spagnola for their Super Bowl run. That defense they came up with, using all de's on passing downs created some of the best 4 man pass rush of all time, and when they blitzed.... That defense carried them and seeing that Coughlin is an Offensive guy, well you can see where I am going with this. Coughlin was on his way out before that run came on, so let's not crown TC as this huge upgrade.

I've learned over the years that you don't want your team win all of it's preseason games or lose them all...it almost always means a horrible season.

That being said, what I've seen in preseason ain't encouraging.

Spags is big time. I was watching a Rams preseason game and on D they were lining up in A gaps, bringing pressure etc. and I was thinking, "DAYUM this doesn't look like any Rams D I have seen recently." I then remembered Spags is the HC now. And went "D'OH".

Yeah Coughlin was given a one year extension before 2006 a la what Schotty was offered in SD if I am not mistaken. I could be wrong but I do recall some NYG fans wanted Fox as their HC.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
