Will Vick be the starter by mid season?

I am not sure that whole "McNabb was behind the signing of Vick" isn't just a PR thing. That said, I can't imagine why Reid would ever pull McNabb for Vick.

Of course, I didn't think he should have been sat down last year either fromt he limited info I had, so take that FWIW.

I dont know, McNabb and Philly did pretty well after that. Is that a direct correlation to the temporary benching?.. Who knows.

From PFT: McNabb calls Vick role a gimmick

McNabb, in response to questions from WIP Howard Eskin, tried to downplay the in-game discussion with offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, during which quarterback told coach how to do his job.

Asked whether McNabb would be more comfortable with Vick taking consecutive snaps or engineering an entire series, McNabb had this to say, via the Philadelphia Inquirer: "Before you can come up with gimmicks, before you can come up with something else, you got to get your base offense going."

It's the same notion McNabb mentioned on Thursday night, and we still don't know what it means.

At what point has the team gotten the "base offense going"? When leading by 10 or more points? After gaining 250 yards?

And if "coming up with gimmicks" (a phrase that, in our view, inherently demeans Vick's role in the offense) disrupts the ability of the offense to get up to full speed, doesn't using Vick constitute tapping the brakes if/when the offense otherwise is humming along?

PFT & Florio, :rolleye:

They are so trying to manufacture a story. The Wildcat unless your the Dolphins is a "Gimmick" / Trick Play

(a phrase that, in our view, inherently demeans Vick's role in the offense)

Totally disagree, a feeble attempt to create story. There is really no other way to incorporate Vick into the offense.

Ughhhhh on that whole article:puke:

I have become disappointed in Florio and PFT. They have been against this Mike Vick thing since the get go and continue to write stories about how he will fit with the Eagles and how it is not good for the team, etc. It's quite annoying. And I have been a huge fan of the site since it started but come on. Get off the Vick story, it's no big deal.

Sorry. I don't buy that this is just a PFT manufactured story. Sal Paolantonio was the one who reported that Vick told the coaches the Vick thing wasn't working and they should stop. He's been covering the Eagles for years. There's plenty of evidence, mostly from his own statements, that McNabb is not 100% on board with this.

How much of a problem that will be? Unknown. Could be something, could be nothing. But there's too much info to simply deny there's an issue.

PFT is a rumor mill site. I always look at stories as their opinions of events unless they have something to back their theory up.

They are also interested in getting hits on their site and as such they do publish every little thought in their head. Still I love to read that site, sometimes as much for reader comments as the site's opinions.

Based off what 1 preseason game & a handful of snaps :crazy:

Really what's the issue here????

So.

Since when to players have to agree with moves the front office makes.

When it comes to Vick & the media, Logic, Reasoning, Common Sense :seeya:

I think that it is a bad fit for the Eagles, and obviously so has Florio.

Why mess with McNabb's head, when he already messes with it enough as it is.
