Asheville brewery tour agenda advice

There's more breweries downtown just can't think of them at the moment as I'm hungover, solid 6-7 that are walking distance downtown. If you need some solid breakfast try biscuit head on the side of Asheville by the hospital the one downtown is always packed or for lunch go to Tepulo Honey Cafe

A year ago I went to four breweries in a single day. We went to the wedge, wicked weed, green man, and LAB. The wedge was really cool and seems to be popular with the younger crowd. You've got a food truck and corn hole outside near the tracks. Wicked weed and greenman were both very good as well but my fav beer of the day was from LAB. It was a seasonal pumpkin porter.

We weren't a part of any beer tour group. We pretty much just drove up one day and called cabs when we were ready for the next spot. I'd recommend going to breweries that sell food around eating time and hitting the others in between. You can be good and drunk before you leave the first stop so you have to pace yourself like you would at a beer festival.

As the Asheville resident I will steer you to the promised land...

The South Slope (Right Downtown) has 7 breweries in a 2 block radius each around 2-3 minutes apart. Start at Catawba and then check out Twin Leaf, Wicked Weed's Funkatorium, Green Man, and Burial Beer Co.

If you have time, head to Mills River to check out the new Sierra Nevada brewery. Its mind blowing and they have an incredible beer selection in the Tap Room.

Are you staying in downtown?

I can attest that the new Sierra Nevada Brewery is quite amazing. I haven't yet been in a tourist capacity but I sold some product and had to oversee it's installation there just before they opened. I was told that they would have live music venues as well as tours and tastings. Does anyone know if these music venues have been opened and any events planned?

I'm not sure of the completion date but New Belgium is also building their East coast brewery in Asheville. I expect it'll be just as impressive as Sierra Nevada's.

Someone else mentioned LAB and it is a awesome gastropub. The beer selection is great with equally quality food. Apparently their beef is home grown on a pasture just a couple mile outside the downtown area.

new sierra nevada is absolutely beautiful

finally made it to wicked weed's funkatorium the other night... if you like sour beers at all, it's awesome

go to the original asheville brewing and catch a $3 movie with pizza and beer

catawba is always good... go to the biltmore village tasting room and then you can hit french broad right down the block

check out jack of the wood for some green man and potentially some great live music

also hit hi-wire (one of my personal favorites) and ben's tune up

its kind of crazy for us locals now... my wife and i get asked all the time what our favorites are, we list off a half dozen and then 30 minutes later after the person asking is gone, we think of another half dozen we should have suggested as well (or instead)

bad problem to have... so much good beer, it's hard to rattle everything off people should try all off the top of your head

    • 99% of my complaints generally are front office complaints.  It may not appear that way always but that's where I have been for some time.   It's also why I constantly talk about random parts the last several years....  to this day, if they were going to draft Bryce Young....I thought they needed to do specific things.   They have literally done the opposite.   In a certain world, I would LOVE an AT.  A Bryce Young.  An XL.  All sorts of people.  How they have chosen to put it all together here? Meh.  I still think if Bryce Young is your QB....the easiest and obvious play for a team....would be a dynamic slot WR, a rec RB, and solid rec TE.  Spread it out.  Let him be the point guard.  I still think this team is being built for a different type QB....one that a Jake Delhomme style QB would thrive more in.  Which is in fact the heart of what Canales has been around and done.  So I nitpick it all.  If I had thought Bryce Young was going to rebound....I would have NEVER been all in on XL like I was.  I was all in XL because I thought the BY experiment was about to over quick.  Ladd would have made way more sense if you believed in BY IMO.   I don't think this team did.  I think Dave drafted XL because they were mentally ready to move on and did after 2 weeks.  and I thought the Frank think was bologna from the jump.  I just have hate the pairings and plan every since Rhule year 1.   Rhule year 1 was the last time I really thought this team was in a good place to give it a go.  It went horribly.  But....the zoomed out plan was pretty logical all around.  Rhule just was not ready and a clown on top of that.   I still think the Dave, BY, XL, Tmac build 3 round pegs and a square one at the end of the day.  Worst thing to happen to BY was to land in Carolina IMO.   Which is often how the NFL plays out.  Where you land and what the org does matters probably more than raw talent/ability often.  I do not actually have a problem with Adam Thielen in a vacuum.  He is overperforming in a vacuum all things considered.
    • Bryce Young could throw for 40 tds and 4500 yards this season and my gut instinct still says you would triple down on hating him.
    • They should just be predetermined slotted contracts.  I feel like that was the intention of the current system, but they left too much room for interpretation about guaranteed money.  I agree though.  You play for who drafts you or you don't play.
