Post draft thoughts. Media & Strategy ~

Hey all!

Got 2nd job recently delivering pizzas here in Raleigh.  i figured im sitting at home playing Call of Duty I might as well make some $.

Anwyay I get to listen to a LOT more sports talk on the radio.  On the surface this is a good thing.  Last night was hell.

So ESPN is rocking their boxing special ALL day...so I got the pain of listening to Stephen A for the 2 seconds it took for me to change it...it doesnt take 2 seconds for Stephen A to play a race card though so that was horrible.  Not sure if he or Bomani is faster at playing race cards...lthey should compete.

So ESPN was out.  Sirius NFL...the draft!  All day coverage???  sweet!

Not so much.

The announcers spend 1/2 the time telling us who they are and the other 1/2 interviewing people that said the same inane crap.

"Blessed for this opportunity"

"Really thankful for being here"

blah blah blah.

Heres a thought.  How about telling us about the last 5 picks that just went down and about them???

Even on television....Bucs Bucs Bucs.

Not one person with the balls to say that maye Collins had someone kill his ex-girfriend....<enter flashback>

My second point/vent:

Strategy.  So...I wont say this was a mediocre draft...but it didnt seem like there were ANY 'wow' players....time will tell.  I know I am just a pizza guy now and not a GM...but seems like we would be better served at getting picks NEXT year then settling this year.  Just my .02.  Make a deal with a team you know will suck ass next year and you move up the boards....

thx- tip your delivery guy-

I might question you on that point.

But since I'm here, can I get a thick crust pepperoni and sausage with extra cheese?

Did they settle, or are they giving each other high fives because they liked who they got? Only time will tell whether there's some Wow there or not.

For who? We can't tip if we don't know who to call.

Disagree, dude. Frozen pizza generally tastes like cardboard (DiGiorno included)

Do you cook it straight on the rack (extremely important), and/or add your own ingredients?

Good pizza can't be delivered.

Never thought about it, but that's probably Tue to an extent. I would probably replace "good" with "excellent".

I hand it to my girlfriend.  I prefer Chef Boyardee to frozen, though.

Had a college roommate who put one straight into the oven, plastic wrap and all

(he's now a father of four; thankfully he married a good cook)

I'd rather have Digornio.

They had the new sauce for a little while but recently changed it back to the old one, that sh*t pisses me off since that new sauce was damn good. Still the best frozen pizza there is, and better than any delivery.

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
