My QB classification

Stats - A good QB should be able to put up good passing numbers in totality, yds, TDs, INT and rating

Wins - A good QB should help his team win. It's a team game I know but elite QBs can elevate the talent around them and mask team deficiencies.

Eye test - Some QBs have the above listed two but then you realize they are on a stacked team that masks their deficiencies well. They just don't seem to play right

Elite - Has all three AND a ring

Great - has the eye test and the wins

Good - has the stats and eye test or the wins and stats and mostly dependent on talent around him to produce

Might need to draft a QB soon - lacks stats and the eye test

Elite - Rodgers, Brady, Manning, Brees,

Great - Big Ben, Phillip Rivers, Luck

Good - Eli, Cam, Wilson, Dalton, Stafford, Romo, Palmer, Ryan, Flacco

Might need to draft a QB soon - everyone else

Your reasoning seems inconsistent. You put Luck under "great" for having "the wins", but put guys like Newton, and Wilson under "good" for being "mostly dependent on talent around them to produce".

Does Luck not have one of the best receiving corps in the NFL? T.Y. Hilton is a top 5 WR right now himself, and the Colts added Andre Johnson

Luck is great because he has all three, he lacks a ring thus keeping him out of the elite category. Newton doesn't have a winning career. Wilson is a game manager. He has won many games in his career when passing for under 150yds. He doesn't have the passing production.

Uh, did the Panthers 2013 season not happen?

How do you go from "he doesn't have a winning season", to "I'm talking about career".

You aren't making any sense man.

Also, Just want to also point out the flaw in chastising another QB for lack of wins, but touting Luck for beating up on the AFC South half the season each year.

I meant to say career. It should be obvious to you that this ranking cannot be based on any individual season. Also, I started this because of the exact reason. Some QBs have wins but are not that good, hence the combination of those three to classify the QB.

We also had a bad NFCS last year, by your logic Cam should have beaten up on NO and ATL but we split with them.

Also, I may not think Wilson should be the highest paid player in the history of the NFL by a huge margin, but I would not call him a "game manager".

Maybe not a game manager. Let me say he is not asked to do much and thus does not have the passing production to be properly judged. If he were to throw more a game, I have a feeling he would play more like he did in NFCCG vs GB.

    • Another layer to that is Ive seen Seattle has been in the market for CB help this off-season.   Michael had a higher PFF grade than Horn who got 15 games this season. He wants to be here too, that's a huge bonus for any 5 win team that had awful pass rush.  The 7th rounder Michael Barrett didn't last long on Seattle, he was cut before the season I think and ended up on browns PS. He's already been on 5.......5 teams within one year.......
    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
