Tiger looks done

I don't feel sorry for him a bit. Nike is paying him a shitload... Along with other sponsors. He's doing pretty well by all accounts. Sure he's playing bad now but he's won 14 Majors and countless other tourneys, most golfers don't even scratch that. Honestly I think his main problems are A) his health and the fact that his back and knee has caused him to change his swing many times and B) he's mentally out of it probably more so bc of A than his personal life. Tiger was never a great striker of the ball, but he was brilliant around and on the greens. Look at Sergio, he's the exact opposite... And look at their records. Tiger has gotten worse with his driver and irons and lost most of his putting brilliance. He's just an avg pro now.

I don't either, that's not really how I meant that. But I would say his problems right now are mental, and sooner or later he's going to have to face the facts.

He's one of the biggest names in the sport, what exactly do you expect? This is like bitching about seeing Cam Newton too much in Panthers highlights.

If you're going to compare the NFL to the PGA, then a better analogy would be watching Joe Namath highlights when he was in the twilight of his career with the Rams....

I'm wondering what Kevin Green will have to say... I'm not ready to say Tiger is done-done, but golf is a damned hard game and if you start going south, it's mentally hard to overcome. Every swing becomes "ok where will this one go" and once you lose that confidence man it's hard to get back, and I'm just talking about amateur golf. I can't imagine the pressure on the pga.

I'll say he sucks this year obviously.

Just 2 years now removed from PGA Player of the year.

He no doubt still has talent but there is something wrong upstairs.

If he'd come and golf with me and my buddy we'd help him rediscover the joy of golf thru beer. It's guaranteed to work.

But seriously, I'm surprised he even goes out there right now, it has to be humiliating.

Regardless though, Woods, Michelson's etc time has passed and the new breed like Spiers and that Irish fugger will dominate golf for the forseeable future, let's hope for a good show.

Woods is only 39, relatively young for a golfer to not still be able to show flashes of brilliance, I give you Tom Watson.

There are no absolutes, especially in this game. Hell, John Daily could come out and kill it for a year.

Meanwhile, I'm going to enjoy my 10;15 Tee Time in beautiful Santa Barbara tomorrow, since that's what it is all about anyway.

Cheers.

I agree with abh, you can't compare golf and the NFL IMO... Yes Tiger is arguably the best golfer ever (personally I think Nicklaus did more but...) The PGA media is utterly horrible about showing him at the cost of even showing the leaders in tournaments. It gotten to be a running joke these past few years. There are plenty of other stars to show now... Speith, McIlroy,

Phil,

Fowler, DJ, Scott...

Phil?

You do realize Michelson hasn't won anything since 2013 when he won 2 tournaments, that would be the same year Tiger won 5.

Admittedly, Lefty is fun to watch though when he puts his drives in the shiz and then flops an incredible wedge on the green.

True and he's playing poorly now and has always been sporadic but he's still a star.

Have any of you guys read anything about Tiger and steroids?  I think I read someone talking about his use and now his joint issues.  Not sure how much credence I give it.

I don't buy that for a minute. He certainly doesn't look to be a juicer. Not sure what help that would give you in golf. Now other PEDs like HGH and stuff that help you heal from injuries maybe... I suspect a lot of them do those. I mean they have the money and the means to easily access such.

Yes, and despite a completely circumstantial case, I'm surprised no one has dug a little deeper into this. Of course, the PGA will have no part of it because Tiger Woods juicing would bring the golfing profession to its knees on a level that would make Lance Armstrong and cycling look like child's play.

But here's the gist of the story:

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/more-sports/tiger-woods-spent-200k-hgh-guru-doc-new-book-article-1.1860280

Tiger Woods paid Canadian human growth hormone guru Anthony Galea and an associate almost $200,000 for 63 visits to the golfer’s home between September of 2008 and October of 2009, according to a recently released book that raises new questions about the drugs and treatment the Toronto sports physician provided the four-time Masters champion.

Galea received more than $76,000 for visiting Woods 14 times while Woods recovered from knee surgery between January and August of 2009, according to “Blood Sport” by Tim Elfrink and Gus Garcia-Roberts. The book also cites a Florida Department of Health investigation that found Mark Lindsay, Galea’s associate, charged Woods more than $118,000 for 49 visits.

Both doctors also treated Yankee star Alex Rodriguez, who is serving a 162-game suspension for his involvement in Major League Baseball’s Biogenesis scandal. The book maintains that Woods and A-Rod discussed their simultaneous treatments by the two physicians.

Galea pleaded guilty in 2011 in a Buffalo federal courtroom to a felony charge of bringing misbranded and unapproved drugs, including performance-enhancing drugs, into the United States.

There's more in the article, but you'd want to to believe that Woods, if totally clean and honest, would use someone besides a doctor who was already being investigated. I don't know, I'm very cynical and the idea of athletes juicing doesn't surprise me  and I'm sure we have not seen the last superstar get taken off his pedestal.

Mighty Mouse, errr, theRed, will be here shortly with rebuttal.

My own theme song? You are so sweet to me, flowers would have been sufficient though sugar.

Anyways, after that scumbag Lance Armstrong, not much would really surprise me.

    • If Canales comes back and Bryce doesn’t I would probably prefer to bring in 3 guys he likes from around the league or maybe outside a top ten pick and work through them, give that a shot. Because if we win a few more games we won’t be in the running for the top rated QB prospects anyway.
    • You mean tepper but yeah I agree about rhule   Baker is a top 3 potential qb that is play for mvp and he is doing it with a slew of injuries
    • There’s too many to reply to so I’ll just say a couple more things then I’m out: 1. It hasn’t been both ways and that’s the point. People saying stuff like “too bad Bryce Young didn’t make that tackle” is a direct result of the ridiculousness of blaming Bryce Young for literally everything. I remember one game day thread a poster unironically blamed Bryce Young for JT Sanders flipping onto his own neck and injuring himself. That post was pied. I literally just read a post blaming Bryce Young for XL dropping a ball on a would-be game winning drive last year. This past week, when Tmac bounced a ball off his hands for an interception, Bryce Young was immediately blamed in the game day thread. Alternatively, people who try to give credit to Bryce Young are immediately told that to credit Bryce Young is taking away credit from Rico Dowdle, OL, whoever, and that they shouldn’t be talking positively about Bryce Young because he doesn’t deserve any credit. 2. Yes, there have always been bad posters, the difference is that back then they were largely derided. Bryce Young’s rookie season, when many of us were simply pointing at the train wreck of the whole team and saying it was maybe a little tough to evaluate Bryce Young when he had no time to throw and slow receivers, and just saying basic stuff like “Bryce Young can physically throw the ball further than 20 yards.” There was an attempt made to limit all those opinions to a single thread, by a mod. This is like saying lunatics running the asylum is normal because there have always been lunatics in the asylum. The difference is before they were patients, now they’re in charge. 3. I know for a fact I am labeled as one of the “Bryce Stans” by many of the usual suspects, but the fact of the matter is they have no idea what my position is on Bryce Young because any attempts at nuanced discussion in the past have been so completely pointless due to never being able to get past the hyperbole. How can we have a serious conversation if you insist he is physically incapable of throwing a football 20 yards? Or if you insist that he somehow duped the Panthers into drafting him just by drinking water? Or if you insist that he should be able to succeed behind one of the worst offensive lines I’ve ever seen (rookie year, not now). And I’m not the only one, there are many who have left the huddle because of it and started a discord server, I’m just too lazy for another app.
