he Panthers' hard-hitting linebacker claimed the 2012 Defensive Rookie of the Year and 2013 Defensive Player of the Year awards on the strength of his tackling prowess and playmaking ability between the hashes. Tackling usually starts off pretty poor for everyone at the beginning of the season due to the more relaxed camps with far less contact. 

 

It takes preseason and a few regular season games to get that tackling muscle memory back.
