Duane Brown did not practice Wednesday and will be a gametime decision for the Texans Week 2 matchup at Carolina. The All-Pro left tackle played in the season opener, despite wearing a cast for his injured right thumb.

This is excellent news. Typically there is a huge drop off from starting LT to backup obviously. We saw what happened to the Jags in that situation. Their second half might have been historically bad even for the Jags. You just can't afford to lose your LT going against a top 10 defense. It severely limits your ability to throw deep and make big plays. The tackle just won't be able to hold up in pass protection, or he'll just hold on every play, and the refs will start to watch him like a hawk. Without the threat of the deep pass, we can lock down the run and force them into throwing a lot of short passes. This is exactly what we want to happen defensively. This plays right into our strength. Norman, Peanut, and our elite LBs our going to generate turnovers and 3 and outs in that situation. The Peanut punch will be in affect. Those short passes allow for big hits, jumping routes, and clogging up the passing lanes. The LT loss is HUGE.

    • I agree with OP notion, QBs always get credited for game winning drives even if they do minimal. Just last night Caleb got credited for a GE drive when they basically ran the ball the whole drive and only had to go 36 yards.   And there are drives where Bryce could of had a game winning drive if not for a Legette drop vs Philly or a Chubba fumble vs Tampa
    • You are actually, genuinely comparing Bryce to Jimmy fuging Pickles? Jimmy accounted for 3 touchdowns in his 10 starts in 2010. In Bryce’s 10 games post benching last year, he accounted for 20 touchdowns. Jimmy threw three touchdowns in 2010. Three. Bryce has thrown 10 touchdowns through 6 games. He is currently on track to throw for 3300 yards, 28 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Wtf are we even talking about anymore. I mean seriously
    • Tepper? The guy that directs the coaches towards goals that he set for them… that guy. He is the one.    I don’t think he ever was going to be expelled from class, they had him come in for garbage time maybe the 2nd week he was benched.  I will say this. People said he wasn’t under pressure the last part of the year when he did better, but he was fighting for his career and that’s pressure. And he saved his career too. I don’t reject him for those kinds of things I reject him for the physical things. I have always brought it down to he has slim margin for error and has to be perfect. People with the tool set have a little fatter margin for error. Why make it harder on yourself? Got nothing to do with hating him.  I am no statistician but game that margin thing out a lot and see how that works.
