High velocity passers have a tendency to throw on a somewhat flatter arc. Favre was well known for that and it's not really news that Newton does it.  He has for a while.

Back when Shula was QB coach, he had a drill where he had the QBs try to throw over something to get to a target. I don't know whether Dorsey still does that or not.

All that said, it hasn't been a major problem with Newton.
