So sell me on how the loss of MKG ruins our season.

This isn't a knock on MKG, I know he's a solid player, but hearing the doom and gloom you would think we lost a Kevin Durant or type play maker or something.. Yes MKG will be missed, no doubt but I think the notion that our season is now done is ridiculous, if we lost Kemba or Al then yes, it would be panic time.. But the make up of this team is so different, and so many different moving parts from last season we are practically a totally different team that will be more offense focused anyway..

What we miss from MKG's defense, we will now make up for with scoring more points and having solid depth can shoot 3s.

Oh and btw, weren't we losing in the 1st pre season game and when MKG left we actually took the lead and won?

Everyone that has been in these forums knows that our record over the years WITH MKG is significantly better than without.  NOT EVEN CLOSE.  His hustle, his defense, and the way it forces the other team to play differently is huge.  It's not always about points.   I still think the contract was bad, only because of his injury risks, but no one can question what he brings to the court.

We're now down our only two guys that played defense last year, MKG and Biz (to another team).   We may pass better, score better, but we're going to be giving up a lot of points.

      I'm more impressed with the UDFA that the guys they have drafted in the first the last 2 years. A whole lot of prove it is still needed before any improvement should be talked about seriously.

      While I don't believe its a must win, (we have been better on the road this post season) it is definitely A NEED TO WIN the longer this series goes the more pronounced the Canes advantage on rest and health will be! If we hold serve at home in games 1 and 2 guaranteeing a 6 game minimum series for them if we lose the road games..... by the game 4 and 5 I expect them to be beat they have played A LOT OF HOCKEY the last three years, they have MINIMAL rest off a more physical than one might have expected series vs the leafs.... you know Tampa took their pound of flesh in round 1 from them. Combine all that with the fact that even though this year's canes squad isn't as talented as last years this IS a better squad than the one they swept last time that had McKenzie Mckeathern on line 1 Turbo with a broken hand a banged uo and eventually concussed Slavin (and even though it was a sweep 6 OTS and 4 1 goal losses is hardly dominant)  This year Bob hasn't been superman (hes probably gonna still have a great save percentage agiast us just a side effect of our style) Thatchuk is maybe 50% (3 game winners agiast us) their defense no longer has Gudas and several other downgrades.  While the Canes have a healthy and performing Svechnikov along with other big guys to counteract florida like Carrier, Jankowski, Robinson.   I by know means think it will happen but I either see this as a low scoring dog fight or a series were the canes surprise and end up dominating.
