Three first-year eligible players were among the class of 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which was announced Thursday night.

Quarterback Brett Favre, wide receiver Terrell Owens and guard Alan Faneca join a deep group of players and coaches from previous years, from which only five modern-era candidate can emerge from the vote held the day before the Super Bowl.

The remaining finalists include the five who were reduced in the vote from 10 finalists to five last year, likely giving them an advantage this year: Linebacker Kevin Greene, quarterback Kurt Warner, tackle Orlando Pace, wide receiver Marvin Harrison and coach Tony Dungy.

The rest of the 15-man class of finalists include: Kicker Morten Andersen, safety Steve Atwater, coach Don Coryell, running back Terrell Davis, tackle Joe Jacoby, running back Edgerrin James and safety John Lynch.

We'll see.

Its honestly a stupid selection process. Have a board vote on each player and require a certain amount of votes to get in. Its hard to put players up against each other when they played in different eras and played such different positions.

And TO is a douchebag but if he doesnt get in on the first ballot it just shows how flawed the system is. He's one of the 5 best to ever play receiver

Agreed. TO should make before Harrison! TO was a diva, no doubt about it, but he was the 2nd best receiver I have ever seen play, 2nd to Jerry Rice. Randy Moss is a really close 3rd, imho.

    • I wouldn’t be surprised if the Pats win it all or at least get there. Maye is awesome.
    • Young quarterbacks Drake Maye, Bo Nix, and Bryce Young have led their teams to undefeated records since October.   Drake Maye has guided the New England Patriots to a 5-0 record in that period, with 2,285 passing yards and 17 touchdowns in nine games. Bo Nix has directed the Denver Broncos to a 5-0 stretch, throwing for 1,976 yards and 17 touchdowns, contributing to a 7-2 overall start. Bryce Young, in his second season, has led the Carolina Panthers to a 4-0 run since October, accumulating 1,390 yards and 11 touchdowns amid a 4-4 record.   Undefeated QBs since start of October (min. 4 starts)   Drake Maye 5-0 Bo Nix 5-0 Bryce Young 4-0   Bryce Young when asked about his mindset during game winning drives: "You don’t rise to the occasion you fall back to the level of your training."
    • 1. Cowboys-No explanation needed. 2. Rest of NFC South equally. If I had to pick I would say Falcons.    3. Eagles- Both of the games I have attended there the fans were so horrible. The fan base is so ridiculously misbehaved, I’ve never seen such immaturity. 4- Lions- I have cousins in Michigan that grew up Lions fans and they are some of the most obnoxious people I have ever met, as are all of their Lions buddies. The NFL has been lucky that Detroit has been in the cellar for its eternity.    5. Tie between Bears and Vikings. Both act like Steelers, Cowboys, Niners fans do with nostalgia and legendary seasons but neither have ever really had them. They act like they each won 5 super bowls in previous decades but never accomplished poo outside of Chicago in 85.
