It's a foregone conclusion that Addison will be active. People were concerned that Delaire wouldn't be, hence the conversation.

Allen knows this weeks target moves like a sloth and Jarred wants to eat. But if he's not effective pull the plug early and next man up.

This is classic preseason Huddle except instead of a 6th string RB, it's a DE.  Delaire is 4th in line behind Allen, Ealy, and Addison.  He made an impact in one game this year.  Soon after that, he did absolutely nothing except lose his rushing lane every time he rushed the passer.  Thus, he was kept inactive the rest of the season.  Let's not build him up into something he is not.
