Cam Newton disappointed me

So I went downtown with my two young daughters 7 and 10 and my wife to take kids ice skating. We stopped by La Victoria to get dinner before we went ice skating.

As we walked in we seen Cam Newton sitting at a table with his hood on and like 4 or 5 other dudes. So we stood in line and ordered our food. After we ordered our food, Cam was right at the 1st table. We had to walk past him to get to the tables that were empty towards the back .

So my wife was like go do hi to Cam and wish him luck to my oldest daughter and ask if he can take a picture with y'all . So as we started to pass him my daughter said " excuse me" to Cam and he just ignored her. And one of the dudes was like "no pictures man"

I was disappointed, we all had Panther gear on, my youngest was even wearing a Panther cheer leader uniform. Cam literally was in the same restaurant with us for 20 minutes waiting on his food order. We even got our food before he left and was eating while he walked past us literally within inches of our table.  He never smiled or nothing, my girls were upset and were crying, I felt bad. He could have at least smiled at them or even just let them wish him luck. I could understand not wanting pictures, but to still be there for another 20 minutes, and at least could have been a little friendly

These guys have lives as well. I am sure they get tired of being harassed constantly when they are out doing their thing. Even just saying hi i am sure gets tiresome some times. Just cause he is famous doesn't mean he wants to know everyone. Just saying, got to keep it in perspective man.

He's under no obligation to do anything for anyone. Sucks when you're among the ones he says "no" to when you see so many others he has said "yes" to, but that's the reality of being a superstar whose constantly hounded for attention even in times when you just want some time to yourself.

Protip: if you want to get on a celebrity's good side, treat them like you would anyone else. If they're in private moment, leave them be. If they reach out to you, cool; if not, live your own life.

Maybe so, but you also need to teach your kids why that situation ended like it did. Cam is still human and can't interact with everyone 24/7.

They understand he's kinda preoccupied this week, right?

I once did a long speaking tour and had to handle about 30 to 40 different random conversations a night where people asked me the same set of questions as if I had never heard them before. . .by the end of the week I was ready to swear off human contact forever. I can't imagine being an actual celebrity.

Reminds me of a time I set beside Richard Sherman. Sure I knew who he was but didn't ask for anything from him and it turned out to be a cool conversation (nothing to do with football). Then some Seahag fan walks up to him wanting pictures and stuff. It was kind of sad. Of course he tried to be nice but you could see he really just wanted to be left alone.

ehhh. guaranteed if you're spotted taking selfies with cam the entire restaurant descends on him. meal ruined.

i would teach my daughter to be excited that she got to see cam out in public, but to respect his privacy in non-team functions. if cam was at practice or leaving the stadium after a game i would be really bummed, but it's hard for me to imagine imposing on another man's privacy, let alone getting mad when he feels it's an imposition. maybe this can be a learning opportunity for the kids, and your chance to get them looking optimistically at the fact they got to see cam irl

Honestly, he was out with friends in a private setting trying to eat dinner. If your daughter wanted to tell him good luck then after they said no pictures you accept it and ask if your children can say good luck. If no, let it go. I live in the same building with several players and see several more out and about regularly. If you say hey and they acknowledge you its perfectly ok to say good luck or chat a bit. If they go on with their day you just go about your business. No matter how much they love football it is still their job and nobody wants to talk about and live work all the time.

if he were actually the guy you think he is he would be able to say, I'm sorry, I'm busy, thank you.

but this collides with the image of him giving balls in the stands. Its all staged for your entertainment.

if he was so worried about being recognized ,he wouldnt be out.

None of these jocks give a damn about the fans. Some may be nicer guys but admiring any of them is a waste of time.

That includes Peyton Manning. All of them. They are in it for money and fame, not to say hi to your children or you.

    • The new (released today) FOX ONE app will allow you access to watch your Local FOX Station - similar to how the Paramount Plus app allows you access to watch your local CBS station It'll cost you $20/month for the privilege, but if you're having trouble accessing the over-the-air antenna for FOX, this could be an option to consider the new ESPN app will give you access to ESPN content, but not to the local ABC affiliate. A reminder: if you currently get ESPN via some TV provider (cable, satellite, youtube, etc) then you should be able to use the new ESPN app via your provider login, no additional payment required
    • Not even close!!! BURNS was a one trick pony who had a big game or two a year in the sack collum and was invinsible the rest of the time....   Heck hes gonna be the Giants fourth best rusher this year.
    • XL went to one of the worst teams in the NFL.  One that features a weak passing O and bad overall QB play on the season.   XL is getting way too much hate IMO.   He had an okay rookie season all things considered.   Very much on par w/ prospects that projected around the same area with him.   Panthers made a 2nd rounder a first round technicality for that contract.  XL also getting this weird kicker type blame for games.  XL somehow single handedly lost us games on one play.....and then we ignore the rest of the team that went about losing the game for 4 quarters.   Should he of caught the Philly ball? 100%.  The O and D still played like garbage that entire game.  Even after the drop, Panthers had two shots starting w/ a 3rd and 4 to convert.  They kept playing bad instead.  And even if we XL made the play....Philly would have had a minute and half to get into FG range to win it.  Who is banking on the Panther D getting that stop?  also, I am deemed Mr. Negative, yet here I am defending a no good dirty Gamecock lol
