Ten Players Selected to The Pro Bowl:

Quote

QB Cam Newton

A leading candidate for NFL MVP, Newton has been nearly unstoppable directing Carolina's offense. He's thrown for 3,402 yards and a career-high 33 touchdowns. He's also rushed for 580 yards and seven scores.

RB Jonathan Stewarticon-article-link.gif

A key cog since his rookie year in 2008 but the undisputed starter for the first time in his career, Stewart ranks fourth in the NFL with 989 rushing yards with six touchdowns on the ground. Also has 16 receptions with one touchdown.

TE Greg Olsen

Newton's No. 1 target continues to prove he's one of the league's premier tight ends. Olsen has 71 catches for a career-high 1,048 yards to go along with seven touchdowns. Olsen is 11th in the NFL in receiving yards and behind only Rob Gronkowski among tight ends.

C Ryan Kalil

The anchor of Carolina's offensive line has been rock-solid. He's further cemented his status as one of the league's top centers and has helped the Panthers' two young guards flourish.

G Trai Turnericon-article-link.gif

The 22-year-old Turner earned his first Pro Bowl nomination after emerging as a powerful force. Turner has been technically sound and has started every game this season.

FB Mike Tolbert

Carolina's fullback has recorded four touchdowns, one on the ground and three through the air. He's been reliable short-yardage runner and contributor on special teams.

DEFENSE

LB Luke Kuechly

Despite missing three-and-a-half games following a concussion in the season opener, Kuechly leads the team with 121 tackles based on coaches' film review. He's shown improvement as a pass defender, as evidenced by four interceptions.

LB Thomas Davis

Ranks second on team with 113 tackles – his fourth consecutive 100-tackle season - and has excelled in blitz packages with a career-best 5.5 sacks. Davis also gotten his hands on the ball with three interceptions, four forced fumbles and two recoveries.

CB Josh Normanicon-article-link.gif

Came out of the gates fast and hasn't looked back, though opponents haven't targeted him much since he picked off four passes in first four games. Norman took two of them the distance for touchdowns and has forced three fumbles.

DT Kawann Shorticon-article-link.gif

The third-year pro has been dominant in the middle of the defensive line. Short's nine sacks rank third in the NFL among defensive tackles, and he's forced three fumbles and recovered two.

I'll say it again

Wish I could make a thread, but I am not allowed to. anyhow, as my name states I'm a falcons fan (booooo!!!!). I talk a ton of smack over at the falcons boards, but when it comes to actually talking to one on one true rivals fans I have nothing but respect. so with that said, this is to all you true panther fans.

Awesome freaking season. I was scared as heck you had this and the falcons were going to be the only ones in the NFC-south without a ring. y'all had a great rounded  team. and to me it was the best team in the entire division. y'all did not lose to Denver, y'all lost to yourself. cam is a good quarterback, and I question his emotion. but lets be honest, who wants a QB who acts like a catholic priest in a monotone voice??? now for me, I would like for Cam to learn how to deal with losing. but I love it when I see Matt Ryan get emotional. but Ryan knows how to deal with being mocked, and cam needs to learn that.......... So do not beat yourself up. you won the division. you beat the crap out of everyone, falcons won due to you not going all for it (plus Stewart was hurt), you stomped the heck out of playoff teams (and I mean smacked). the Panthers are going to be a tough team for a good few years in my opinion. I can only hope the falcons get their defense more improved and Ryan/Shannahan can work things out.

congrats to y'all. y'all were awesome,
Mashburn

they definitely had a remarkable season. After the sour taste is gone, they will be able to look at this season as the start of a beautiful thing.

I know a lot of our players/coaches won't want to hear it now...but hopefully in the next few weeks as time passes they can reflect back on what an extraordinary and brilliant season they had.

The work continues but I hope they at least pause and acknowledge what a successful season they had.

Close to the goal but not good enough.I have no doubt in my mind this loss is going to make the team 100x better. Disclipine, hunger, respect, focus, & and the drive to become better everyday so we never feel like this again. From here on out where never going to fail in the biggest moment. Keep Pounding bros.

    • Trinidad is a winner. 2 D-2 championships before going to Ole Miss. One of the things that I really like about him, outside of his good QB play
    • Yeah, I will also say, one play in particular really impressed me when he ran probably 20+ yards back, and I think he reversed field twice, but when he started running back towards the LOS he changed his stride to keep his shoulders squared to the LOS and still was running fast enough to outrun the rushers.  It wasn’t even that he outran them that impressed me, it was the wherewithal and body control to change your gait mid-play, even at the expense of a full sprint, so that you were prepared to throw the ball when the opportunity came.     And I’ll have to see more of him to compare like throwing distance-type arm strength, but velocity he passed with flying colors.  He was zipping some absolute lasers out there, and I think, after what we’ve seen the last three years with Bryce, to me, that is much more important than being able to throw 70 yards downfield (although I love if they can do that as well lol).
    • I wouldn't call it a hyperfocus, they factor into eval.  All part of a bigger picture.
