True Statement....But I am sure he will get picked up somewhere...3 things he showed this year regardless of what some may think. He showed he gets open, runs great not good great routes, and guess what outside of pre-season he catches the ball. I think I saw one person on here say that after Philly got hurt the offense struggled. Was that because he was out there putting in work on Talib even after he almost got is neck torn off? Just sayin......

But that's becoming a problem. ..

3x times now Philly has gotten hurt with nobody hitting him making a difficult catch.. It's not helping us if Philly is working somebody but he gets hurt by hitting the ground hard and done for the game..

I am sure that more than 1 WR will be brought in, either through the draft or FA. There will already be competition, as we have 2 WR coming back from injury, and only lost 1.

I'm sure of that my point was bringing in a WR more like Philly then the basketball team  (wr corp) We have already..

If Philly doesn't make the team this year that means we got better. He's a good receiver and whoever replaces him has to be better.

And if he doesn't make the team I hope he is beat out by a guy more in his type that can do the shifty short pass to big play thing and not another giant ..

So should go hard after the ball like in the Super Bowl or not go after it like he sometimes get's dogged out for. I think he gets a bad rap that's all no matter what he does it is blown up except for when he does something wrong then it's magnified.  Funny thing also is he was leading all recievers on both teams before he went up between those two fantastic defenders and caught that ball.

I'm with you but DG isn't.  For some reason he feels like he has to get his franchise quarterback 6'2"  and taller receivers.  Stephen Hill in the 4th spot or the guy  picked up from the Seahawks would be my prediction.

1. KB

2. Funches

3.  Teddy

4.  Stephen Hill

Or maybe don't be so fragile or get somebody who can do his job and not be so fragile..

It's your job if you want to be a starting quality WR to make a difficult catch every now and then..

He can also help him self by being more of a hand catcher then a body catcher..

But it isn't helping us if we can't keep taking advantage of a mismatch when the WR is hurt..

Or as long as he just catches it would be my guess....we can go on and on but the truth is he is just not respected as a player here by some.

He will be apart of our offense next year.  The guy has come a long way from being a UDFA to a solid contributor on a SB talented team.  The combinations that Shula will have at his disposal this season is going to be awesome.

Brown is an excellent route runner.  And for those of you that are worried about his body catching. Get over it.  Not ever single player is going to be mechanically correct ever single play.  As long as he keeps catching the ball I could give a fug if he caught it between the gaps in his face mask, as long as he catches it.

Well that's you and your standard for a WR..

He won't reach his full potential until he can bulk up and consistently catch with his hands..

Plain and simple

But that didn't help us when he missed the 2nd half of the Superbowl with a injury because he just caught the ball...

How the fug do you know what my standard is AH.

Brown is a good player and obviously much better than you think he is.  They are grooming him and I NEVER implied he has reached his ceiling.  In any sport if you aren't improving you are getting worse.

Many players have had successful careers and ever a few HOFer that weren't your perfect technique players.  Bottom line if he is getting open and catching the ball.  I don't think they have a stat that separates body catches from hand catches.

But then again you "think" you know it all.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
