Also news that Mario Williams is visiting the Dolphins today.

A line with Williams, Donkey Kong and Olivier Vernon would certainly give opposing offenses something to think about.

This disappoints me. Mario is a FA that I really like. Hopefully nothing happens.

Cuts may come to a “crescendo” on Monday

Plenty of veteran players with recognizable names have been released in recent days. It’s likely that plenty more are coming.

One league source with extensive knowledge of the operation of NFL franchises predicts that the process of cutting players will reach a “crescendo” on Monday, two days before the start of the new league year.

Also, ESPN says Mario wants to visit 4-5 teams before he decides. There is still hope.

The Bucs are interested in free agent OT Nate Chandler.

Chandler missed the entire 2015 season with knee issues. The Bucs had some of the worst tackle play in the league last year, but Chandler wouldn't be more than a veteran flyer. Chandler could add depth at guard if Logan Mankins retires.

Vikings re-signed DT Kenrick Ellis to a one-year contract.

Ellis appeared in nine games with Minnesota after his release from the Giants. He'll add run-stopping depth behind Sharrif Floyd, Linval Joseph, and Tom Johnson. 28-year-old Ellis isn't guaranteed a spot on the 53-man roster.

Josina Anderson of ESPN reports that former Panthers DE Charles Johnson will visit with the Giants on Sunday.

The Giants reportedly have interest in free agent DE Mario Williams as well, but he took his first visit to the Dolphins on Saturday.

New York has been connected to almost all of the available defensive ends, considering their need for help at the position and ample cap space to work with.

Johnson, 29, was entering the sixth year of his six-year, $76 million contract when he was released in a move that freed up $11 million in available cap space for the Panthers.

In 2015, Johnson has appeared in nine games and recorded 12 tackles, a sack and a pass defense for the Panthers
