CJ Prosise, RB, Notre Dame

Here is another prospect to keep an eye on. Prosise saw action at S and WR during his early years at ND. In 2015, the Irish moved him to RB. He did not disappoint. He is still learning the position, but the potential is through the roof. He already shows phenomenal patience, vision and cutting ability. He's also one of the best pass-catching backs in the draft. Perhaps his most impressive trait is his second gear. Once Prosise finds an opening he is gone. You'll notice he takes a lot of carries out of the gun which is a huge plus for our offense.

Prosise has potential to be a star. Sitting behind Stew & Co. for one season will allow him to continue developing as a RB. A future duo of CJ and CAP is something I'd like to see.

I hadn't watched any video of him before the above highlight video, but I gotta say I 100% agree he'd be a great fit for us.  He runs a bit upright and his center of gravity is a little higher than I like for a RB, but for those to be my only real complaints about a recent convert to RB is a good sign for him.  The experience in the passing game would be crucial, can take the Tolbert role we currently employ and would have probably better hands (and longer arms) and more YAC potential than Tolbert.  I'd be ok with as high as our 3rd on him if it's looking necessary.

Very interesting prospect, I'll have to watch games of his before I can make a true determination but man that acceleration is out of this world. Seems like he'd b a good offensive weapon but 3rd seems high from everything I gathered so far.

After watching some full game breakdowns, I may have been a bit too impressed by the highlights.  3rd would be a bit too high.  I still wouldn't mind us picking him in the 5th round or so, like ecu88 said, but there were a lot of times he was just ineffectual.

Yeah agreed. He's only been a RB for one season so he's still learning the position. But his potential is very high imo.

Nice highlights.  Love how he just hits 2nd gear and goes.

In recent fanspeak mocks I've done, he's generally been among the ten highest-ranked players remaining when we draft in round 4, but he's off the board when we pick in round 5,

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
