This hurts to read:

"The Hornets would indisputably be in a better spot had they grabbed Boston's offer of four first-rounders, including what turned out to be the No. 3 pick in June's draft, instead of using the No. 9 pick last year on Frank Kaminsky. They flipped the No. 22 pick for Marco Belinelli because they knew another team would blow away Courtney Lee, and wanted a replacement locked into a cost-controlled deal. I'd still rather have the No. 22 pick."

If that offer was made to the spurs or thunder it would have been perfect because they are great finding talent in the mid to late round while Charlotte has struggled picking in the top 10, so picking a guy you really like makes more sense than to select 2 to 3 late to mid round guys you don't really like. look at Boston how many game changers have they drafted in the last 3 years? Reportedly Boston offered many teams the same package and they declined because that package of picks isn't nearly as lucrative as it seems .

Who are these magical players that some of you seem to refer back to from this deal. Last year after the 10th pick the draft was done with Winslow. 

 

The number 3 pick would have had a chance to play but still not a team changer . All the other picks were trash mid late rounders worth no value thats why no team took boston up on any offer and they had to use most the picks on over seas players. 

Im not the biggest fan of frank but ill take him with a year of seasoning over anyone we would have took at 3 this year.

If Devin Booker was still there at #16 (Celtics pick) It would have been perfect but after Booker who would have got playing time on the Hornets last year?

I wanted Winslow, but if MKG stays healthy it's kind of a useless pick.  So Frank makes sense, if he continues to progress.

On another bright note, having the third pick in this Draft would be sort of useless.  Unless we Drafted Kris Dunn.  But in that sense, it wouldn't make any because we have Kemba.  Sigh.  It would've been a lose/lose to make that trade.

Kris Dunn comes to mind. I'd take most of the options between 3 & 9 this year over Frank.

How does he develop here as Kemba's backup? Name me the options and how they fit on the Hornets

I like Kemba, but he's a career 40% shooter. That doesn't take us to the next level. If we had a chance to develop a better option and didn't take it, we deserve to stay a non-contender.

I get your point, but he's super cheap to keep right now.  That's why they're fine with him.

i may be wrong but at the time that that offer was made, wasn't it suggested that the picks were heavily protected anyway? i'm sceptical that the brooklyn pick would have not had a top 5/10 protection on it?

in a hypothetical situation, it could be suggested that Kaminsky may still have been available with the #16 pick last year... it was probably unlikely, but i remember at the time being disappointed that we didn't take the offer. 

if we had taken the offer, i imagine we would have gone big this year - my choice would have been bender (which would have been a cost effective way of filling the center spot this year, but based upon the amount of minutes we play our rookie's (let alone 19 year old rookies!) i cant see the hornets having the patience, or with respect the ability, to develop him into a starting calibre center

      He does have speed. 21+ top end speed is very fast for a linebacker and his 3 cone drill time is considered excellent, close to elite.

      This is awesome because you get to see the perspectives of the scouts--get a glimpse behind the curtain. I wonder whose doing this was; I am curious as to why David Tepper allowed it. Maybe it was his wife. Maybe Dan.  At least from my perspective--and probably one shared by other fans--when David Tepper bought the team, he closed everything off too much to the fans, and really didn't give an explanation. Things were obviously done because he (and/or some others wanted to do it). Remember when they used the guise of construction and all that to keep fans from seeing the team during practice? I know there are laws and safety and all that, but Tepper could've made it happen. And, of course, we all know that they essentially fired Jeremy from his independent contractor gig as a photojournalist. I never understood why they'd do that (and the negative reverberations obviously affected Jeremy and ultimately this place--i.e, us fans). The pie was (and is) certainly big enough to throw some scraps to the independents. I realize that you can't necessarily open the floodgates, but a few different perspectives from indy journalists whether in word or photos is a good thing in my mind.  So, it's great to see different perspectives. I will say this however: it is not without risk, as you know there will be some buster who will be calling the scouts out if the players flop. I think we should all keep in mind that the buck stops with the GM. It's nice to have one, however, that is so convicted in his people and process--and ultimately success, that he's willing to give fans access to this type of information. Pass this on to Tepper.

      I hope he ends up being our best ever at the position. Ryan Kalil left big shoes behind that we haven't quite been able to fill since.
