haha that's what i wanted to type and i meant to delete it but accidentally hit submit.

Anyway, my point is that 40 yard kickers are a dime a dozen.

I think your point is, "Let me make a moronic post and call everyone who responds a bigger moron"

people can bash gano all they want but the last time we tried getting a replacement for someone who was dependable if not an elite kicker, we got stuck with fuging olindo mare. no thanks. i'll take the ocassional missed 50 yarder over scrambling for a free agent kicker which is what cleveland had to do this weekend with an injury to their guy. the result? new guy missed three field goals.

Gano shouldn't have been out there kicking in the first place.  This was a field position game that RR failed to recognize until it was too late.  I'm sick of us getting up by a score than calling plays like we've already won.

If that really is the case, and we all know it by now, then you can't blame the player for missing.  At that point, we have to look to Ron.  I don't think it's fair to say he's done a poor job handling Gano.  But at this point, I don't see how you can stroll him out there to attempt these kicks anymore.

If we could get a guy like Andy Lee at kicker.  It would really pay dividends.  However there are very few studs at kicker and none of them are going anywhere.

Our ST as a whole needs to be upgraded. Besides the punter we suck bad.

Completely agree and I don't blame Gano at this point.  I wonder what the make % is for 50+ yard field goals is?  Neither offense was really moving it and Ron failed to recognize that.

Something like 60% since 2010...that was posted in this thread.  Maybe he thought Gano could best that average.  Well that backfired big time.

In watching Panthers games it seems I never see Gano kicking a short field goal.

It's always 40+.

He may not have the highest percentage of kickers, but I'll bet if you combine distance and record he's at the top of the food chain.

Of course, there's always a nitwit who watches one missed kick and calls for pitchforks.

    • We definitely overpaid but as long as he's not lined up at NT he's been a starter level player which is a major step in the right direction compared to last year's D-line.  Because of his contract he'll definitely be here next year, but I fully expect him to be a cap casualty next offseason.  We'd save 15M in cap space if we cut him in 2027. I don't think he sees year 3 of his deal. I'd be open to keeping him around in 2027 but his deal would have to be reworked to a substantially lower number.
    • Getting left out in favor of less-deserving Alabama is an honor bestowed upon a new team every year. Miami should take pride in back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time in decades. As long as this doesn't cripple their program like it did FSU, they should be able to go for another one next year.  And, being someone who also likes to see Miami do well but knows its penchant for horribly timed losses, there's a great chance they don't find a way to beat UVa or Duke last night regardless of the matchup on paper.
    • Truth be told, I just like a 4-3 defense better and I'll just jump in with any chance to make that statement. Seemed like an opportune moment.
