Panthers working out 2 offensive tackles, 3 defensive backs

The funny thing is that the last 3 Super Bowl winners made huge splashes in FA or huge trades to put them over the top. Do the Broncos win the Super Bowl without Demarcus Ware and Emmanual Sanders? Do the Pats win without Revis? Percy Harvin was mostly a bust for Seattle but he couldve easily won the SuperBowl MVP against the Broncos. Meanwhile we're sitting on our hands trying to "upgrade" the roster with guys that we're either cut in training camp or have been sitting on their couch for a year.

If you're a Super Bowl contender why is it such a sin to trade away a draft pick that will probably take a couple years to develop in exchange for a proven elite player who can contribute right away and likely make the difference between a playoff appearance and winning a Super Bowl? I know it sounds crazy but Cam and Luke arent gonna be in their 20s forever and reality is Olsen, TD, and Kalil are on the back 9 of their careers

Agree completely.  They made team friendly trades or FA signings.  The Super Bowl contenders do go out and spend every dime of highly priced FA's that are trying to get their last huge contract.  Broncos acquired Ware and Sanders for reasonable price with huge contributions.  Patriots sign or trade for key pieces that they are missing each year, Seahawks same way, Steelers same way, etc. etc.

We have been sitting on our hands in the offseason since G-Man got here.  These glaring opportunities we've passed on has been overshadowed by Cam, Olsen, JStew, Luke, TD, etc. carrying this team.  I believe that Gettleman is a great GM but his low risk/high reward scheme has obviously fallen short this year. He looked like a genius with the Mike Mitchell, Ted Ginn, Kurt Coleman signings as those career backups flourished in our scheme.

Time is up on the penny pinching, its time to open the Wallet and get the Big Cat a ring while he is still with us.
