Steve Wyche: Negative Vibe Inside of Panther's Organization

The bonus fiasco has merit and probably effects morale but I hope that did not effect the focus this off season ans I seriously doubt it should effect the coaches and players.

We are just not as good of a team as many of us thought (including me), and hopefully having our ass handed to us will toughen us up, expose the areas that need concern, and cause some change.

As far as JR and the stadium and what the org. does for the fans I think too many are focused in the wrong direction. Their job is to give us a winning team. Our job as fans is to love the team and try our best to be patient during the hard times when they come. In no way does this mean that we should not get disgusted and voice our opinions about the team during bad times but many here have no clue whet they are talking about as far as the FO goes and are merely making fantastic assumptions and formulating absurd theories as to why the team is not winning.

I wish the stadium would loosen up. I wish our only fan unity and identity on game day ("woooooo") was never taken away. I wish the ads would and could be less of a focus too.

The problem is that we don't notice them as much when we are winning and winning makes all this go away.

I still think JR is a classy guy, he just doesn't recognize who his market is. The fans pay his bills, not the NFL. He has pretty much ignored his fans since he started the franchise, and it's coming back to bite him in the ass. Like a few have mentioned before, he'll figure it out once it hits his bottom line. Until then, he's still sitting on top of his mountain oblivious to how he's alienating his client base.

If by "his fans" you mean the people on this board who have nothing but criticism for the franchise and how it's run, I think you're overstating. Jerry

Richardson is a very successful businessman, and he didn't get there by not listening to his customers. This board doesn't necessarily represent the majority of Panthers fans. Not saying the opinions here are not important; just saying they aren't the only opinions that matter.

Perhaps those bonuses are what caused the departure of the two junior Richardsons...

If you're saying they left because they were pissed at how they were treated, they'll have a hard time finding other jobs that were as good as the ones they had.

If you're saying they were fired because they were responsible for the screw-ups, I can agree with you.

if what Wyche says is true... the team and the organization is full of pussies!

Oh no.. we lost 2 games... I'm feeling so down... grow up, tuck your blouse into your skirt and keep your whining to yourself

Do you really think this would happen after two games? Issues like this seem petty on the outside but there is always more to it. Kinda like when you fight with your wife over not putting the ketchup back in the fridge. The ketchup is just the final straw on top top of all the bickering, jealousy, nagging, and sniping that has been leading up to the final fall out. Individually it looks petty but when you pile stuff on top of stuff, eventually it becomes a tipping point.

So does anyone know if Mark and Jon were "let go" versus leaving on their own? Has that been confirmed?

At first I thought it was a strategic deal to set themselves up for ownership upon Big Cat's passing, but now I'd say they were let go because dad didn't want to take sides, and the sons refused to get along with each other.

Yes it has been confirmed that the Richardson brothers were fired. When Hurney was on Primetime on WFNZ a couple of weeks ago, Packer brought up the fact that they had been fired and Hurney never corrected him. I took that as a confirmation.

I wouldn't exactly say that Hurney not correcting Packer was a "confirmation". Maybe Hurney just had a brain fart and it slipped by him. Still, things do seem to indicate that Richardson did tell his boys it was time to go.

    • Derrick Brown was one player I never called or even suggested was a bust . Dude was young and hadn't even hit his stride. It takes time to learn the position. The thing I appreciated about him is that he kept improving season after season. He got paid and keeps on going like the Energizer Bunny.
    • How many teams coddle their QB the way Bryce has been coddled? I have never seen any other team in the NFL EVER baby a QB the way that Bryce has been.  Bryce was named day 1 starter his first year. It was obvious he didnt deserve it. He wasnt ready as evidenced by the worst rookie year in NFL history.  So let's move to year 2. He's named starter again with no competition in TC and is benched 2 games later. We have the ghost of a backup in Dalton who is so bad he can only beat Vegas and let's remember, the only reason he lost his starting job was a car accident, not because Bryce actually beat him out in practice.  And year 3. We sign Dalton again, who already proved he couldn't be depended on to put an even remotely passable performance on the field, and bring back Jack Plummer, who was even worse than last year. It was obvious he was nothing more than a pretend body in an attempt to create an illusion of some type of attempt to find a backup.  Then we start again with garbage play again and Bryce gets benched with a phantom injury, and the ghost of the ghost of Dalton breaks his thumb on the first drive and craps the field all over again. If we had actually made an attempt to find a legitimate QB2, it's possible Bryce doesn't step on the field again. Bryce is not agood QB and if we had any other mediocre QB, our record would be the same or better.  Bryce is not entrenched. He's been placed, protected and sheltered from ever having to face a  real QB competition in TC. Richardson and Levis both were ass and both were benched and eventually replaced.  Do I expect Baker to face competition in camp? Sure. I expect Tampa to find the best QB2 they can at price that fits their cap and resources and system and get him up to speed. If he's better than Baker, and if he's better by a significant margin, that's best for the team. The ultimate goal is a Super Bowl. Bellichek was constantly getting QB2s with the GOAT as his starter. He knew the value and that was realized when Cassell led them to an 11-5 record as a backup.  You and I may think differently than the people that matter but I will say it again. If you're afraid to bring in a capable backup, especially after the debacle of last year. The starting role wasn't earned, it was given, and that's loser mentality.
    • I would have done the same thing.  LSU is a much better job than Ole Miss.  Plus the enormous contract and every advantage a college team can offer in terms of recruiting and facilities and tradition etc
