He wouldn't sign the contract.

The front office broke negotiations. You don't do that... you drag that poo out as long as possible, and try to make a deal. They literally had a press release where they announced they were washing their hands of the best player on the defense. It was retarded.

Except that he could have signed the tag at any time and still continued negotiating for a long term deal.

He didn't.

He did what most do during contract negotiations. It's a tactic that's been used for years. You threaten a holdout to get close to the number you want. What sense would it make to sign the tag early?

This is truth.

Although these revisionist history dipshyts will tell you otherwi8se.

Yea but his timperiod was cut short usually palyers sign the tender later on in the off-season. But who cares we should have negotiated a better deal since he was a kryptonite for the divison's #1 WR.  Its kind of mind baffling because we are taking away our best countermeasurement against the opponents biggest strength on the team.

At any point are you idiots going to acknowledge the fact Norman didn't sign the contract?

I don't give a shyt what he says with buyers remorse after the fact.

Doubt it, your full of sheet he was going to sign it but DG cut him lose.

Despite not coming to a long-term agreement, most teams would retain an All-Pro player, for at least one more season. However, NFL Media's Jeff Darlington reported the Panthersdidn't think the looming distraction of an inevitable holdout was worth the pricey one-year tender.

Gettleman's stance on "shutdown corners," especially in the Panthers' system, could also shed some light on the decision.

Because then negotiations could have continued without the acrimony.

Loads of players have done it, and been rewarded.

Research Julius Peppers and Marty Hurney and perhaps you will begin to understand how misguided you are.

He never intended on having him in the first place just was a facade play wiht the Tag.

was worth the pricey one-year tender.

"Shutdown corner is a misnomer. There's very few of them. It's so hard. You can't cover forever," Gettleman told Black and Blue Review's Bill Voth last season. "If there's no pass rush, there's no shutdown corners."

2 divison games loss keeps you out of the wildcard

At this point in the season, if we're still blaming the whole Norman deal, then we aren't really paying attention.

This has gotten as old as the "Bring Back Hardy" or "Why'd they cut Smitty" crud.

If Gettleman isn't fired at the end of the season, can we fire The Rainmaker instead? Because next year, the guy is going to be even more insufferable.

I mean really, this has been a long road trip we're all taking together, and it's time to ditch him at a truck stop in Barstow, yanno?

That may be the stupidest thing you've ever posted (and there's a lot of competition for that position).

doubt it we if had won the 2 divison games we would be in the hunt for the wildcard and Norman would have delievered on that and the defense would have been far better with Bradberry on the otherside. Keep on FUPAING

    • I was more referring to the actual following each team has. The above teams except for maybe NO have MASSIVE followings. You can go to any sports bar anywhere in the country on a Sunday and there will be all of the above teams’ jerseys represented.  Yes, the Panthers occupy a large geographical area, but the number of people that actually care about the franchise or can name more than 5 prior players is still very small. South Carolina is largely Clemson/SEC country and it’s not even close. There is a Panthers contingency, but it has to compete. Like it or not, Panthers are still not all that relevant in the NFL. We’re a 30 year old team based in a transplant state that loses more often than not, has never had back to back winning seasons, no SB victories and is stuck squarely in college football country. It’s tough to grow our brand until more consistent winning goes our way. Most fans of sports teams are Luke warm bandwagoners. No one jumps on a broken down bandwagon. It’s not hopeless but until we start seeing consistent success it won’t change.
    • I kind of want Edgecomb to make it to 4. Bailey seems like a bit of an ego case IMO. Regardless we will draft a future MVP and trade him away. It’s tradition.
    • Fingers crossed for Ace Bailey. Him not doing any workouts could be a huge blessing in disguise for us if he falls out of the top 3. Hope the team doesn’t mess it up.
