Yep. They would likely groom him to eventually take Edelman's spot, and until then he and Edelman would likely tear the league a new one as the sun settles on the GOAT's career.

The Saints are balking at the 32nd pick though, so doesn't look like we'll see Cooks cooking in New England.

Cooks isn't anywhere near physical enough to take Edelman's spot. It's one of my biggest complaints with him as a player, and the reason he isn't used in the slot more. He can run with anyone, but he'll catch a ball and fall over so he doesn't get hit. Literally just lay down.

He gives you 0 YAC, unless he's running a 9 and he's in front of everyone. I can't believe they ever compared him to Smitty. He doesn't have that dog in him.

I'll acquiesce to your personal knowledge, but what I will say is that Cooks wouldn't have to be as tough or physical as Edelman to thrive in that role. Edelman has plenty of space to run in due to system schemes, Brady and immaculate timing.

Gettleman has said that his draft philosphy is BPA. It seems that his FA philosphly is to kick the tires of the ones on the rack and wait until the dust settles on the rest. (By kicking the tires of the ones on the rack - i mean the FA that hasnt drawn a lot of interest, ie. On the rack)

He's never really had a choice before. We haven't had cap space to even consider any players at the top of the market. Sort of hard to have a philosophy when you don't have a choice.

Groom him? He'd have to have Edelman's spot the day the trade happened. Don't forget he's whining about not getting enough targets on the #2 team in pass attempts.

When you're on the Patriots, you shut the hell up, quit bit(hing like a bit(h diva, and just DO YOUR JOB.

So not having a choice means that he doesn't know how he would do it if he had a choice? Neither one of knows what his philosphy is, which is why i said "I guess his FA philosphy is"...

It seems is not I guess. You were making your guess of his future based on a past that is completely different. That was all I said. And it was more a general statement I wanted to say to the masses that whine about everything. Shouldn't have quoted your post with the point I was trying to make. My bad.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
