23 days until the draft!

Recommended Posts

23 days, 6 hours, and 15 minutes at the time this was posted.  Is anyone else as excited as I am?

For starters, we have the 7th best draft capital in the NFL going in.

We have a roster that, IMO, makes the playoffs with the current talent level and is only going to improve.

We have a GM who is adept at finding talent, and has no qualms about maneuvering draft position to get the players he wants.

This draft class is amazing, especially at our positions of need.

Never have I seen a draft where players in the 3rd round are being talked about like day-1 starters.

Is it too early to be this amped?

Man, it's kind of sad.  After draft, we'll be left fantasizing about how well our team will do because of our paper improvements...then mini camp...then more fantasizing, then training camp....  So this is how the NFL has become a year long sport..

But I'm so excited to see how the story lines play out!

I don't remember being this excited for a draft. We've never seen DG in a position of being a contender with a top 10 draft pick. He's been decisive before about trading up to get who he wants. In this position might he make different moves?

I don't know but I'm excited to see how it plays out. We should end up with solid talent regardless but this year it just seems the possibilities are endless.

I learned to temper my excitement for the draft after the past 2.  Both 1st round picks were no wheres close to an area of need.  Was it BPA?  Not looking that way.

I'm incapable of learning to temper my excitement. I've been told it's genetic and fatal.

I check the huddle a couple of times a day to see if there is any breaking news....damn well knowing that there isn't going to be anything except offseason threads, player visit threads, and mock drafts......but I can't help it, keep coming back all the same.

Bring on the draft!

    • It's just a talking head.  Talking about gambling. If anybody takes the under on 4.5 wins, they're most likely losing their money.   So he's only saying if you want to bet on a possible sleeper, take the over.  It's not rocket science.  Pathetic that so many on the huddle have reduced themselves to posting purely trash every time they hit the submit button.
    • I mean I think the best case scenario has to hit for the Panthers and everyone else in the NFCS has to hit their worst case scenario.  Personally, I think this is the year that NO finally collapses and I think they finish 4th in the division regardless.  ATL is overrated but still likely a 6-9 win team. TB plays tough football, their defense will be there but their success depends on the offense, they too are a 6-9 win team.  The Panthers are probably 4-6 wins at best. If they find some sort of momentum during the season and get 7-8 wins, and TB and ATL struggle then maybe but I find it very unlikely.
    • We screwed up a couple years ago taking Bryce in the first place.  Nobody held a gun to our head to jump from #9 to #1.  Most people who keep up with draft news knew this 2024 QB class was loaded and we should have waited, which I advocated. It was a dumb move and I knew it.  Now we have to roll with Bryce another year.  That's fine, because this 2025 class isn't that great.  I like Ewers, but not super high on him.  If Bryce shows improvement, which I think he will, that should get him at least one more season before we have to decide on if he's the permanent answer or not.  I've said before, the 2026 draft is the next window for a franchise QB if Bryce isn't the answer. Bryce gets this year and next at a minimum.
