Gantt thinks you're overreacting

Amen Brother! People like Gantt think we're just ignorant peasants working in a field. We have no concept of figuring out ourselves if the product we see on Sunday is actually worth a damn. He totally lost me with his "lunatic fringe" comment a while back.

again, other than what seems to be an underlying issue with sportswriters, keep in mind:

He's saying Fox won't be fired next week. He won't be fired in three weeks. We didn't fire George Seifert after six weeks at 1-5. We didn't fire Seifert at 1-10. We fired him at 1-15. We didn't fire Fox at 1-7. So expecting him to be fired in two weeks is unrealistic. It won't happen.

Good grief...I have watched Tony Sparano clap exactly like Fox does after his team made bad plays.

WHO...GIVES...A...&&&&&!^!@^!@%!@R!^%@^!!^@^%$ about stuff like that? Really?

I can understand this part even if it doesn't matter. When things go wrong people blame the equipment manager and the stadium designer if they can. Personally, I don't think being a fire-breathing jackass makes a difference and I'm sure most of the people saying things like this also wanted JDR over Fox because he's a more outgoing positive pushover than Fox.

That's not his problem, though. Him stating his opinion is his right, and really has nothing to do with your opinion of sportswriters.

And while sportswriters don't have to be logical, he's being logical. Coaches, owners have to be logical. They don't make moves based on wanting retribution or wanting to make up for hurt feelings. Fans have the ability to say retarded things like "I hope Jake gets hurt" or "fire them all now" or "cut so and so". Fans have the ability to say things like "I want to trade Peppers for Quinn" or "we'll get a 3rd round pick by trading away Rosario and then we can draft The Golden Calf of Bristol." So feel happy you have that ability. If you don't want to hear what sportswriters have to say, don't read them. If you don't want to hear what anyone else thinks, log off.

I go to the newspaper for news.....I go to the sports section for objective sports news......I go to the Panthers sections for objective Panther News.......I go to the Sports Blogging newspaper section to get tidbits of newsworthy info as they happen. I think I should be able to get this without Gantts personal commentary. If Gantt choses to create his own personal blog than fine. I will not go click on that site because I don't care about his opinion. He chooses to put his personal spin in the same area with the news. That is where I have a problem.

This make my point in some ways. I'm a huge Panther fan. I think there is almost a 0% chance Fox get fired before the season (if at all). The place to debate the reality of this type of thing is on a message board. Do we really need Gantt at a hard newspaper to tell us Fox will not get fired before the season ends? Is it his opinion or has he spoken to a Panther official that said as much? I like to form my own opinions - not have them carefully crafted by people who are supposed to be giving me the facts.

When I go to a restaurant, I want to know the sanitation grade and that's it. I could care less if the health inspector thought the cook uses too much salt in the soup. See my point?

I don't think Fox is a bad coach, I just think he's run his course here. Like the quote in the observer this morning, at some point the players just stop listening to you. Things get stale after 8 years, bringing in a new guy with no prior attachment or pride invested in anyone means everyone has to prove themselves and earn their job again.

you don't have to read it. And if you were going to a restaurant you wouldn't want a menu?

    • I think they are holding back to see what they have in the young guys, but I think it's a near certainty at some point they will bring someone else in. Right now (assuming we keep 5 CBs which is normal), the top 5 IMO are: 1) Jaycee Horn 2) Mike Jackson 3) Chau Smith-Wade 4) Shemar Bartholomew  5) Akayleb Evans   Obviously Jaycee is the alpha in that room and paid as such. Need him to stay healthy and continue to play at a Pro-Bowl level. Mike Jack did pretty well all things considered last year, and they gave him lower-level starter money. Fair deal for both sides.  Smith-Wade showed some promise as a slot CB. I think low-key he's a lock for the team. Different size and skill set than the other CBs. Shemar Bartholomew was the most sought after waiver claim last preseason. Was 5th CB most and inactive most of last year. Had a few defensive and ST snaps. Nothing of note good or bad but too small a sample size to make any judgment. Akayleb Evans was a 2022 4th Rounder for the Vikings. Has started 19 games (including Week 18 for the Panthers) in his career and played in 43. Was pretty good in 2023 before getting injured and falling down the depth chart last year. There's some other guys on the outside looking in, but until they show more in training camp I dont see anyway they make the 53. And only Jaycee, Mike Jack, and Smith-Wade are locks to make this roster IMO.
    • Was just reading the Ask the Old Guy story on the team's website and was shocked to see that only two 2nd Rounders have signed so far, 30 of them haven't. That isn't normal, the Texans really screwed things up for the rest of the league, no other explanation that I can think of for 30 of the 32 picks to still be unsigned at this point.
    • They need to address CB before season starts. This is not going to cut it.
