RIP: Chris Cornell

He was also my favorite vocalist, probably in all of rock music from my childhood...  His death made me revisit some of the songs I had saved in my library that I hadn't listened to in forever.  Ironically, one of my favorite Soundgarden songs as a kid that I just thought was badass and have had on my workout playlists forever was Pretty Noose.  So, I was blasting that in the car all night.  Then came across The Day I Tried To Live.  MAN...  Chris was one of a kind, and there won't be another.  Just like with Prince, I didn't see this coming at all and it makes it all the more tough to digest and get over.  He seemed to have "made it out" to the other side and had carved a happy life for himself from the outside looking in...  52, married with young children...  Just sucks.

I've read places saying he was on Ativan (sp?) and the side effects include depression, paranoia, and suicidal thoughts.  He supposedly called his wife and told her he may have taken too many, and that is why she asked someone to go check on him...
This is just haunting now:

Yeah one of my favorite songs.    I love 4th of July though.   It's so heavy and really captures Soundgarden.    I hate this happened, and I sometimes feel silly being so shaken over a celebrity, but this hits harder than any celebrity death.   I'll probably always get sad listening to him.

We need 24/7 protection around Vedder and Grohl, I will NOT stand for losing another from the greatest music generation of my life.

fuging sucks man. There is something to truly talented artists that make them vulnerable to their emotions.

Chris Cornell and Michael Hutchence are my favorite singers of all time and they passed in a similar fashion.

Soundgarden was great. Just listened to Super Unknown on the way home from Asheville. Cornell was all time great.
