I can handle it. We all have our opinions. Some take them to the extreme in my opinion. I tend to take a middle of the road approach. All good...I appreciate what you bring to this forum, just think it's a bit much at times but you give me an alternative view that I might not think about otherwise.

Fair enough.

Admittedly I could have worded it a little better and expounded on it more.

Wasn't trying to derail or anything.

Just felt that it was a valid discussion considering the stereotypes black quarterbacks endure, which I have seen firsthand with Newton.

Actually, Kaepernick has been better (only completion % is similar) in his career in all the key passing categories. That doesn't include the rushing stats where even though Fitz is pretty mobile, Kaepernick is better.

The one category where Kaep is light years ahead is INTs. Kaep's worst 16 game season or pro-rated season total was 10 INTs. Fitz, even in his best years, has never had a season (pro-rated to 16 for shorter) of under 10 INTs. Fitz, has 7 of 9 seasons averaging 1 INT or more per game with a worst season of 23 INTs.

I'd rather have Kaepernick as Cam's backup, political views aside. He's better than Fitz, period.

I'm not talking about how good they were 5 years ago. As of right this second, Fitz is better and has more value. Obviously the NFL agrees since Fitz has a job and Kaperprick doesn't.

We all know why Kap has not been offered a Job, the teams are nothing more than Billion dollar Businesses, he's Way better in all statistical #s in the game. You're Lying to yourself if you disagree

Laughable man. We will see as soon as the season draws near. The cards will be stacked in his favor after that first injury.

Really? I don't care about the politics (I don't care for Kaep) in this equation and I understand why Fitz at $3M is more attractive as a backup and not someone who thinks he should be starting. The NFL doesn't agree on who is the better QB. They only agree on who is the better back up for $3M and which one isn't a distraction. The stats in 2016 are eye opening and clearly show Kaepernick is a better QB and his stats for his career are better than Fitzpatrick as well.

2016 Fitz

Year Team G Att Comp Pct Att/G Yds Avg Yds/G TD TD% Int Int% Lng 20+ 40+ Sck SckY Rate
2016 New York Jets 14 403 228 56.6 28.8 2,710 6.7 193.6 12 3.0 17 4.2 57 38 5 19 81 69.6

2016 Kaep

Year Team G Att Comp Pct Att/G Yds Avg Yds/G TD TD% Int Int% Lng 20+ 40+ Sck SckY Rate
2016 San Francisco 49ers 12 331 196 59.2 27.6 2,241 6.8 186.8 16 4.8 4 1.2 65T 25 5 36 207 90.7

I guess that means Kaep is better than Cam, then. He had a better QBR. Wonder why no one has picked him up.

I really don't see how anyone could argue Fitz being better than Kaep..SF had some of the worst talent on that team in the league last year and he still managed to be a serviceable QB

The guy he beat out got back in the league before him..

Well, let's see. One has a job and one doesn't. I'd say that's a pretty good argument. Fitz was bad last year, but the 2 years before he had pretty good seasons. He is a different style QB than Kaep, and more valuable in the NFL right now - obviously, since he has a job.

2015 New York Jets 16 562 335 59.6 35.1 3,905 6.9 244.1 31 5.5 15 2.7 69T 53 9 19 94 88.0

2014 Houston Texans 12 312 197 63.1 26.0 2,483 8.0 206.9 17 5.4 8 2.6 76T 38 8 21 83 95.3

2013 Tennessee Titans 11 350 217 62.0 31.8 2,454 7.0 223.1 14 4.0 12 3.4 77T 32 7 21 109 82.0

2012 Buffalo Bills 16 505 306 60.6 31.6 3,400 6.7 212.5 24 4.8 16 3.2 68T 44 7 30 161 83.3

And, knowing his role and being a good backup obviously adds to his value.

Him having a job isn't a direct indicator he's better..That logic is faulty because NFL GMs do not evaluate players strictly from an ability standpoint when they consider signing a player.
