2018 QB's

It's real early but go ahead and start throwing out guys to watch.  People can throw some opinions, info etc about the QBs leading up to the draft.

Now obviously we don't need a QB as one of our needs.  The thing to watch with these guys.

1. At the top:  IMO this is one of the more talented QB classes projected to cone out in a good while. The more that go at the top may drives other talented players down the board our way.  Also Anderson sounds to be crumbling in all the camp updates.  Cam takes more hits than your average QB so you always need a trust worthy backup on hand.  Anderson may not be that guy any more.  A QB in rounds 3-4 shouldn't be shocking if it happens.

Back to the 2018 class.  2017 was Weak as far as QBs.  Trubisky who was the top QB, I see his upside as a Tannehill/floor of Christian Ponder.  Watson I see upside of RG3 (rookie predamaged goods RG3) much like RG3 Watson is smaller and has had injury problems so how will his body handle, his floor Tyrod Taylor.

2018 guys have GMs drooling

Sam Darnold- Projection (top 3), Comparison Andrew Luck.  Darnold has a nice arm, good pocket awareness, smart kid (expected to graduate in 3 years).  Lucks red shirt Freshman year, they had a run heavy and they didn't really give him the keys until his 2nd year.  Lucks year 2 he threw for 3,338 completing 70% with a 32 to 8 TD/int ratio.  Darnold last year didn't get the nod to start until game 4 and went for 3,086 completing 67% with 31 to 9 TD/int ratio.

Josh Allen- Projected (top 5), Comparison Carson Wentz.  Wentz 6'5 232 4.77 40,  Allen 6'5 233, 40 4.75.  Small school kid with loads of potential.  Most even projected him as possibly the top QB had he came out.  Wentz's hype train didn't start rolling until the end of the season.  with Allen's already this high, as long as he doesn't bomb this season he is go8ngbto have teams drooling.

Josh Rosen- Projected 1st round, ceiling Rivers/ Floor Hackenburgh.   Rosen 6'4 220.  Boom or bust kid, some are saying he is not liked in the locker room.

Mason Rudolph- Projected (1st-2nd) , comparison Andy Dalton in the body of Joe Flaco.  Pretty mobile solid arm but plays out of the shotgun.  Daltons senior season completed 66% with a 27 to 6 TD/int ratio.  Rudolph last year completed 63% with a 28 to 4 TD/int ratio.

Lamar Jackson- Projected 1st-3rd, ceiling Watson/RG3. Floor Athletic Geno Smith.  On the thin side, will his body hold up. Arm just as capable as Watson's, go back and watch the Clemson game, took team on his back much like we saw a Lot from Watson (Watson had more weapons to play with though). Jackson had them all the way downed a decent pass but WR had no clue where he was.  Huge upside, but major questions with his weight and shotgun offense.

Local Prospect: Riley Ferguson- 6'4 210.  People forget about this kid.  Butler High school grad, competed with Josh Dobbs as a freshman but injured his leg and had to take a medical redshirt. Came back and started to compete in 2014 but left school for JUCO.  He transferred to Memphis last year as Paxton Lynch's replacement. He completed 63% of his passes for 3,698 yards and broke Paxton Lynch's previous years record of 32 TDs to 10 ints finishing with a QBR of 152.6

Josh Allen reminds me of a better Mitch Trubiski.  He could end up going 1 IMO.

Upside is a poor man's Cam.  Athletic with a rocket arm.  Not built like a tank but plenty durable.  If we needed a QB I'd want to tank for him.

    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
    • 5 Im glad football is back but after the embarrassment that was the browns pre season game where our starting D made Sanders look like a serviceable NFL QB, I lost hope again for a successful Panthers campaign this year.  I do hope I’m wrong!
