Latest GFS model shows Hurricane Irma hitting Wilmington as Cat 5, Charlotte as Cat 1

Just wanted to get this on people's radars early. The models are inaccurate this far out, but watching half of your state get destroyed wasn't pleasant. The GFS that just ran had Irma hitting Wilmington harder than any hurricane has ever hit the East Coast and would flatten much of Eastern NC including Fayetteville and Raleigh. The hurricane is big enough that we'll have Category 1 winds here in Charlotte which is even worse than when Hugo hit us and power was out for 2 weeks.

Start paying attention to this, especially if you live in eastern NC.

I live in Rocky Point, just outside of Wilmington. Still too early.

I grew up in Asheville and my Mom and Daughter still live down there. They are far out in the Western part of NC but this is really scary still and my thoughts and prayers go out to all that this will go farther out in the Ocean and not have the impact they are saying.
