Because athletes are human beings just like you and I. No amount of money can take away their feelings or stop them from being humans. There are certain things that could happen in my life that would impact me, and make it hard for me to do my job. That's why I diasagreed with you. You can't, atleast imo, discard a humans feelings just because of their pay. Your post was an attempt at making us feel some type of way about you spending "lots" of money to see them perform. Well, I can feel sorry for you and I can feel sorry for the players, because I know it was tough for them as well.

Im not for making excuses.... 

But football is a violent game... and it's also an emotional game. If the players are distracted or conflicted, it can be hard to get into your flow.

So... they got their asses kicked because they were:

1) Frustrated that they didn't get to protests the National Anthem and American flag

2) Scared that Jerry Richardson might punish them if they did so

Sounds like a load of BS to me.  Do your job.  Play football.  Win football games.  Excuses suck.
