I'm going to write this assuming you've never been to Charlotte.

Where are you staying? Downtown? If so, you're best off just wandering through downtown and stopping in to see what you like. For dinner and drinks downtown I like Essex: https://www.essexnc.com/. It's pricey for tapas, but the food is great and the drinks are strong for a restaurant bar.

Charlotte has become a brewery town for better or worse. Most of them are in clusters that are within stumbling distance of one another.

Far end of South End:

These are within 100 meters of each other on the Southside:

Olde Mecklenburg Brewery,  Sugar Creek Brewing,The Broken Spoke, Good Roads Cider, Queens Park Social Club

South End closer to downtown:

The Suffolk Punch, Triple C Brewing, Yamazaru Sushi, Sycamore Brewing, Big Ben's pub

These are all within a mile of each other on the Rail Trail with follows our Light Rail system

Closer to Stadium:

The Unknown Brewing Co., Wooden Robot Brewing, Seoul Food Meat Co.- this is an interesting concept. A Korean/Southern BBQ fusion place that sounds strange but really manages to pull off some awesome food. A good way to end up in a meat coma. Again, you can stumble around and hit all of these without any traffic fatalities.

Plaza Midwood neighborhood:

Thirsty Beaver, Snug Harbor, Thomas Street Tavern, The Peculiar Rabbit, Legion Brewing, etc. All of these are within 2-3 blocks of each other. Try Midwood Smokehouse. The BBQ is good, and in my opinion the best you're going to get without leaving Charlotte and heading to Lexington or Shelby.

NoDa neighborhood:

This link saved me a lot of typing: http://noda.org/eat-drink.html. Walkable neighborhood with great food and still a few cool shops/bars that haven't been turned into condos.

If you're going to be here two weeks and you have a car I'd recommend heading up to the mountains for a day, or two, drive some of the Blue Ridge Parkway and hit Asheville for some of their breweries/restaurants. If that's not your scene, Hendersonville or Black Mountain still have more of a small, mountain town feel that's part of what I love about North Carolina. Consider doing the Blue Ridge Buffet at the Omni Grove Park Inn: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g60742-d509990-Reviews-Blue_Ridge_Artisanal_Buffet-Asheville_North_Carolina.html. Again it's pricey, but how often will you be in NC?

Hope some of this helps. Hopefully some others will come in here to add their two cents/crap on my suggestions and you'll get a good mix of opinions/suggestions. Enjoy your visit.

I got to spend one night in Scotland when my submarine got forward deployed to Holy Loch. It was great until I tore my ACL at a bar in Dunoon and started drinking shots to kill the pain. Only other places I saw were the hospital over in Gouroch, and the bus ride to the airport. Beautiful country.

Anyways while you are here make sure you get down to Charleston SC. Lots of interesting history as well as some of the best places to eat in the country.

    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
    • Moved to Tuesday, not Wednes because of scheduling with Flyers game or something in Philly. But I don't feel good about the Heat.  It has been a great season regardless.  Team just been playing so hard to move up since a bad start and just picked a bad time to get gassed.  It's like almost everyone is shooting cold at the same time even wide open shots.   Maybe atmosphere and playoffs kick off a spark.  I'd rather be in a series than a one and done though. The team has a good foundation to build on regardless of what happens.
