Everyone who didn't believe and were "realistic" about the Panthers come get your crow here. Snake? Fox?

It's a stupid philosophy. If we kept scoring they would be forced to. Even if we give up a pick we have nothing to lose but a tie. If we just give up we are always fighting to not lose.

Like when we were passing towards end of the game and it ended up getting intercepted?

Rivera didn't even remotely cost us this game today.  If we had lost, it would have been more about lack of player execution.

We didn't lose because of player execution despite Rivera.

I bet the players don't want to go into prevent with 8 minutes left and have to make open field tackles on free crossing routes for 8 minutes after giving 15 yards cushion(not easy to do). We already know what Smitty thinks based on his experience with them and some of the player reactions give it away too.

No.  Maybe I wasn't clear.  Real fans don't look at an 8-4 and now 9-4 team and talk about how terrible they are and how bad the season has been

Remember....these were guys tell me Thursday that Vikings "mopping the floor with us" was "realistic"

Except in reality when it was actually the other way around most of the game

Fair enough.

We went prevent at the end of the 3rd. It's why the Vikings got like 5 chances to get back in it. I mean I get it if your defense is top 5 in the red zone but we are bottom 5.

I love it when idiots get mad at people who don't predict we go 19-0 every year and win the Superbowl.

There is a difference between predicting the 19-0 and winning the Super Bowl every year and being defeatist wusses you're more concerned about Ron Rivera and Mike Shula's job security then winning games getting in the playoffs.

Holding the defense back is what was the classic mistake this game. They had a lot of injuries on their OL and we just played soft for them to get easy catches. When we blitzed and put pressure on their hurt OL they crumbled....I mean....it doesn't take special attributes to figure that one out.

On offense they actually passed to try to pickup some firsts which was good to see even tho we missed a wide open CMC who could have taken that in stride for a big gain if it's out in front of him. Even if he caught that the way it was thrown he would have been tackled there...have to lead the receivers...kind of like the Fozzy miss but it was just a bit too far.

My wish was to win yes.  Not lose to support my own opinion of how bad the coaching staff is and how bad our season is going like some people

The Panthers don't need to lose to show how bad this staff is. You do realize we almost lost right? After Min had one of there worst games of the season right? I'm happy with the win and we knocked off probably the most deadly team left on our schedule but we still are not even a lock for a wildcard.

It's the same reason we lost to the eagles. We let off the gas and they won.

    • We will make it interesting. I think we'll be on a roll by then.
    • Especially glad there's no Thursday games. I hate them. They're dangerous. They really fug up a routine and unless you're team is coming off a bye, they play the game with little rest or prep.
    • Sober. Still feeling it. I really like how the schedule is laid out for us. Perfect for a new HC and rebuilding team. Aside from the Bengals, there aren't  any good teams before the bye. Chargers will be, but they're having to figure poo out just like we are and they'll be coming here for an early game. That one is a toss up. I like our defense against them. I think we'll give the Bengals a fight, but I wouldn't put money on us winning that one. But the saints can be swept. They're beat up and just don't have much going on. They'll be at the bottom of the division. I feel like we will split with the falcons and the bucs. There's nothing scary about the raiders or that washington team. Chicago is another toss up, but they aren't scary either....not yet anyways. We're getting them early in the season so I like our chances. I especially like our defense against a rookie QB. And the broncos....boring. Giants....again, boring. Looking at this, we've got a good defensive thing going on. I think the unit will be better this year a d we're in season 2 of Evero. I like us especially against rookie QBs, and we'll have at least 3 we're facing before the bye. We come in and play smash mouth football and just keep hitting (pounding) away and I think we're competitive. It's that schedule after the bye that scares me. Hopefully by that point they've built up a lot of confidence. You get a scrappy dawg that's got some confidence and a lot of fight in him and you've always got a shot. I think that's what we'll be this year. This year isn't about winning all the games. It's about building confidence and learning what we've got to do. But looking at that later schedule and it's not horrible. We've got the eagles and chiefs....that's scary, but then we've got the cardinals and cowboys at home...and it's the cowboys in December. When have they been scary in December? And we've got division games in there as well. I think we'll do ok. The more I look at it, the better I feel about it.
