Any recommendations?  Thinking Beretta or Glock.

I think you should buy what you actually shoot best with.  I was determined to get a Glock the last time I bought a semi-automatic pistol.   But when I went and shot a bunch with friends, I found I liked the grip of the Springfield XDM better than the Glock and I shot better with it.  So I got that instead.   For some reason they sometimes run a couple dollars more than Glocks but whatever.

Some ranges have guns you can use or ask friends to go shoot with you that have the type guns you are interested in......then buy what you shoot best with is my advice.    My brother in law gave me tons of poo for not getting the Glock because apparently their is a YUGE fanboy club or something.  I'd rather like what I shoot than be part of a fanboy club.

Yea, my wife is afraid shitless of guns so I want to taker her to range to teach her all about it.  I also hate going to shooting range and use their garbage.  Shooting range guns usually so terrible it feel like the gun will break after every clip lol

my wife didn't like when I first brought guns into the house either.  She got over it.  She still won't shoot though.

what caliber you looking at?  do you have any handguns already?

Try Blackstone, they're a newer range/shop and seem to be pretty nice. I'm betting they'd have a nice selection of rental pistols. I agree with CRA. I actually like my Glock, and chose it over a Sig, which is what I originally wanted before I shot one. Buy what feels good in your hand and feels natural when you look down the barrel.

I think 9m is enough.  I got AR15 and Mossberg 590 but no handguns.

Seriously, if you want my input it's helpful to know what your plans with it are. Self defense in the home, concealed carry, target shooting, action leagues, etc.?

Just target shooting and maybe Home defense.  Wife straight up refusing to hold a shutgun lol

I guess I will swing by shooting range and ask to hold some guns.  I like my friend glock a lot.

For home defense, a shotgun is the way to go. Does your shotgun look tactical? If so maybe that makes her nervous, maybe not. I'd try letting her shoot a long shotgun in maybe 20 gauge. Way less kick and while the shells are more expensive, if you're mainly using it for self defense, shell costs won't really be a factor. The simple sound of a shotgun slide can be a deterrent to criminals, and the ability to hit a large area with minimal aiming makes it a little less difficult to hit your target under duress. Also, shotgun pellets don't tend to go through multiple walls, possibly killing your kids or your neighbor.

My sister shoots a 20 gauge and loves it. She's 5'8" and 110 lbs. Just something to think about.

    • I don't think it was fear of the unknown because he tried to hide the extent of the injuries that made him drop. After the drop, the reports I heard were that teams knew what was wrong with his knee and it was something similar to another athlete from a few years ago (honestly don't remember if it was even a football player).  That it was basically one of those things where he should be fine for a while, there isn't a huge concern of immediate injury risk.   But what he has going on with his knee is something that is degenerative and there's little chance he'll be able to play more than 5 or so years on it before he won't be able to play anymore. So basically it was teams knowing if they draft him, he's probably going to be only a rookie contract player and even if he's great, you might not be able to get use out of him on a second contract.  Which in turn makes the drop make sense, but I'm kinda surprised some contending team didn't take him late in the 1st, hoping he'd put them over the top on a SB run but then not even have to worry about giving him a big contract in 4 years too.
    • Depends if they see the writing on the wall with their roster and contracts and decide to bite the bullet and begin a complete rebuild and roster overhaul.  I have no clue why some franchises (IE us) refuse to do this and keep half assing trying to win 8 games or so.  Do it correctly, take your lumps and build a contender.  We shall see what loomis decides.
    • Each team plays 17 games.  I do not see why they don't just have each team play one international game per year.  Neutral site game, 8 home, 8 away.
