Okay Dawg, now you're not even trying. You're just deflecting.

Let's put it this way: Bring in an outside consultant (like the Panthers should have) to make the choice. Do you honestly believe somebody objective would give Marty Hurney a GM job over somebody like Jimmy Raye?

Lol exactly...an outside consultant would never really even consider Hurney. Hell, no one in the NFL considered him except the Panthers. Why is that?

First of this is really an interim position whether deemed permanent or not. And yes there are folks who would value experience and consistency over an unproven commodity with 0 experience as a GM. It isn't who might be better down the road but who can help in the short term while the team is being sold. And I suspect many folks would prefer Hurney as the best short term solution.

Anything is possible given this situation. I believe that.  I mean,  you're talking about these guys like they're Dick Haley,  Bill Walsh or even Ozzie Newsome.

Are those the same folks who thought Mike Shula was a great offensive coordinator?

This is not an interim position, but even using that logic, there's no way you take an inferior candidate. And Marty Hurney isn't just "experienced". He's proven that he's bad at the job.

Taking somebody who might be good at a job over somebody you already know is bad is the kind of stupid decision only somebody like Jerry Richardson would make.

july 2017: it’s ok guys we’re getting a new, better GM

august 2017: it’s ok guys, hurney’s just here to take care of day to day operations while we find a new GM

feb 2018: it’s ok guys, hurney probably won’t even be the GM for very long once the new owners are in control

december 2018: it’s ok guys, playoffs are overrated anyway

Aahhhh, see they are "different."  Could that be the overarching factor in the minds of many?  That was really a rhetorical question.

All three have years and years of  experience at personnel evaluation that Marty Hurney doesn't have.

And not just experience: success. Each of them has a proven track record and could get a front office job with any team in the league.

Nobody outside of a Jerry Richardson run Carolina Panthers team is ever giving Marty Hurney a GM job again.

Not just different. Superior.

No one thought that Shula was great, they thought he did a decent job with the talent he had. The same folks criticizing Shula were complaining Cam didn't have any weapons ignoring Shula had the same limitations. But he is gone so I won't waste time debating that.

Hurney made mistakes along the way. He screwed up big time with Brown and Edwards and overestimating the cap increase in 2011 moving forward. That is clear.

But so far he has shown he is much better this time and is clearly the best candidate from the limited choices who would take a position with new ownership months away.

But I am not going to waste time convincing you of anything given you don't want discussion you want to argue and you aren't open to changing your mind just convincing everyone you are right and we should fire everyone.

So,  each of the teams that they've worked for have a track record of success?

I'm not so sure that Marty Hurney even gets the job.  I wouldn't bet against him,  but I wouldn't bet either way.

Two of the people making the choice have already said they hope Marty Hurney gets the job.

Three of them are people with no  football experience on their resume', all of whom are very closely tied to Jerry Richardson.

Had they done the right thing and gone with an outside consultant, there might have been a chance for a competent choice.

This is a s--t show, and it's going to leave us with the sh--tiest option possible.
