Coach Cowher says......

We have been running it. What game is he watching?

We stuck with the run the last 2 weeks...we won. First 3 games Fox got away from the run and wanted to install a more balanced attack (the duo actually was running the best in the losses but Fox elected to let Jake lose the games instead).

I'm sure pass protection had nothing to do with that..

Not sure I understand. So the running backs were running well....but it is the OL faults for not protecting Jake....which is why the run was abandoned to early for 4 consecutive games? Easy solution to the obvious. AZ they should have ran and ran. Philly they should have ran and ran...Dallas, Alt etc. The ran game was finding success in all those games...why put it on Jake (and the OL if that makes you happy). They still put too much on Jake and he has messed everything up...I don't care who you want to have him share the blame with......that is the most retarded coaching I have ever seen. Fox claims to want to run the ball but he has been afraid to do it up until the last 2 games despite it working.

This I can agree with... Pardon me being particular when I get tired of seeing people like Koolkatluke say Jake is the reason we are 2-3 when there are so many other factors involved..

he has 11 sacks and just like Cutler, who has 7 INTs and 10 sacks where as people like Peyton and co have 2 or 3 sacks... There is a correlation between the two (I realize Jake is fairly immobile, but that's not the entire story).. I just think a fair assessment is in order instead of hearing things like "Pep has been invisible all season long" when we all know that's not the case... (just another example)

I def want to see a new coach brought in as I'm tired of seeing the same team over the last several years, even in regards to them playing down to competition.. It's the little things that are starting to get to me, not just the big things.. I'd love a new QB as well. Perhaps Jake bounces back, but as a fan I have no control of that.. However, I do expect people to be reasonable at the same time. I don't think that's too much to ask. Esp when someone says they rather have Romo then Delhomme... The same poo would be happening, just different names... I mean, wtf are we really talking about here.. :)

We threw more because we were behind in those games. Do you really think we should have been running the ball when we were behind Philly by 2 or 3 td's?

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
