But Americans are lazy and that is to many steps.  But I agree. Also shouldnt be build in flood prone areas.

We're still building it.  No Doors or windows yet but it is solid concrete.  All the structures other than the slums are made of concrete.  I am not to worried about the house.because she is well above sea-level.  My fiance's home down in Olongapo City is and will most likely get flooded.  Olongapo City has terrible drainage and even a tropical storm will flood the city.   

She is already making plans to move the Car to high ground and move all valuables to the second floor in OC.  

It helps she is on the western side of the Philippines so the storm will die down some just the god forsaken rain will mess the city up.  

Speaking of the wonderful islands of the Philippines.  Ever want to take a trip to PI.  Let me know.  Would love to host any Panther fans.  The house should be finished by Christmas.

PI is a beautiful place been there a couple of times. They seem to get q typhoon once a year along with Taiwan.

We can solve 2 problems with 1 design, get America healthy & safe again .

I wonder how many Huddlers had their FEMA flood zone change throughout the years. One of the biggest issue with flash flooding is over pavement of impermeable surface aka Asphalt. One of the reason why Houston was flooded so badly because it's nothing more than a swath land of asphalt parking.

Two season....Hot wet....Hot Dry.  Shorts and sandals are the preferred dress.  I love it there...the people are great and food is good.  If you're a Karaoke fan PI is for you.

This is the second one this year..  But overall about once or twice a season.   Unlike the US where the hurricanes can go either up the coast or into the gulf.  The Philippines is right in the path of most of them.  Most of the time they veer north as they head to China.    This one will run over the northern part of the country.  Thank god.  Yesterday the forecast was right at us. We'll see a hellava lot of rain and wind though.

House is in Winnabow, NC about 20 miles north of Southport where the storm is supposed to be sitting and spinning for 24 hours.

Evacuated to a nursing home in Whiteville, NC where there are brick walls, boards over the windows, backup generators high quality enough to keep people's machines running when power goes out, and plenty of food/water resources. 

I feel safe enough for the storm but have no idea what I'll return home to find.

When those SOB stall it makes life miserable for a couple of days.  Hang in there.  Our prayers are with you.

My mom is over in Bladen County. Trying to get her to leave but she is stubborn. Best I can do at this point is try to get enough money together to send her to get generator so at least she will have power.  It's stressful being in AZ and have to watch this from afar. Sad part is our area tend to flood a lot when hurricanes come through.

Somewhat off topic- but based on the current track it looks likely that satellite will be out during the game Sunday. Anyone recommend a decent bar near Charlotte or Concord that carries the game on cable?  Haven't found one around the Albemarle area.

I was stationed at Cherry Point when Fran came through.  It flooded to my front door of my apartment.
