The Panthers have three bread-and-butter run plays.

One is a strong-side zone play, where the back starts out toward the tight end side of the line, the linemen block straight ahead on whichever defender is in their zone and the back has the ability to cut back against the flow of the play if he wishes.

Another is a strong-side draw play, in which the quarterback and offensive linemen set up like it's a pass, and the back takes a handoff to the tight end side of the line.

Another is a weak-side iso (or isolation), in which the fullback leads the play away from the tight end side and the back attacks the gap between the defensive linemen on that side of the line.

"Our job as defenders is to make sure they don't have that crack," Ellison said. "We have to build up that wall where every time they think they see a lane, we've got to have a defender in that crack. That's the way we have to stop them."

:eek: Oh ya just give our gameplan away to the other teams in the league.:rolleyes: now our season is over lol. :shocked: But honestly the running game didn't start getting going until we started playing these teams with no wins hardly. I want to see how double trouble is going to do agaist the good teams like the Pats and Saints when they play them. What I really want to see happen is that Fox change QBs are change the gameplan to better fit Jake playing right now. Which ain't good at all right now.:gnorsi:

The Packers of the Lombardi era had 6 running plays........and ran them very well. Just saying.

That means we're behind the curve by 40+ years. Much tooo predictable, that's the problem.

I'd like to see us mix things up more. For people to simplify our run game to just three basic plays is pathetic. But hey, If you're hittin' em' in the mouth so what?

I don't care what the aints record is. They can't count that game a win ahead of time. Any NFC South can beat the other at any time except for Tampa right now.

I'll worry more about the Pats.

      After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem

      You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….

      Three straight first round WRs is straight up Matt Millen poo. Considering the draft capital we have tied up on Bryce after that trade we would basically have spent damn near all of our draft capital in recent years on QB and WR just to put one of the most anemic passing offenses in the league on the field. Clown show poo.
