If it was not Myrtle Beach I would say this was fake....

My wife and I married in Oct 99. Just weeks before I was to deploy to Saudi Arabia for 6 months. So we decided to do the honeymoon thing after I came home. I booked everything from Saudi. Short stop in Baltimore (stayed with my brother a couple days), then an overnight in Charleston WVa, on to Nashville for 2 weeks, and then the last week at Myrtle Beach, SC.

When I booked the hotel, the owner made it VERY clear that we were requesting a room during "Bike Week". Hell, NO PROBLEM! The wife and I both ride. We like the same music. We both have our share of tattoos. We'd fit right in, right? Hmmm... WRONG.

As we're approaching Myrtle Beach, we see this HUGE orange (very light skinned black) ass in a thong hanging off the back of a crotch rocket. It wasn't until we were right next to the bike that we could see the driver, a very small and skinny black man. My wife's comment was "If this is bike week, shouldn't they be going the other direction?" I laughed, but she was right. Bike Week isn't exactly the place that black bikers want to hang out.

ANYWAY, it didn't take long for us to discover the real truth. This wasn't "Bike Week", that happened 2 weeks earlier. This was "Black Bike Week". So here we were, the only 2 white people in the entire hotel. Hell, we think we were the only 2 whites for a block in either direction! We were never, not one time, harrassed or threatened by anyone, don't get me wrong. Everyone we met was friendly and polite to us. We had a wonderful time during the day. But at night? Holy hell !! The MUSIC until 9am. Bass that would shake the entire hotel. Squealing tires and races on the main drag. Breaking bottles. Fights. More LOUD MUSIC. Screaming, shouting, yelling fightingfugingracingpolicesirensambulances STOP! And there was so much refer smoked outside the hotel we could smell it in our room which was away from the parking lot (not that THAT really bothered me much).

Well, we late at night from Nashville. Didn't sleep that night. Spent 2 more days there and left in the middle of the 3rd night. 3 days early with no refund. We drove for 50 miles and slept for 6 hours at a rest stop in our rental car.

The maid came in twice all week, and the second time she asked my wife for a beer. We locked our valuables in the car after that.

Hey you folks out there are just plain spoiled. Here in the LA area, they charge extra for that kind of service. Besides, who wouldn't enjoy a beer during work?

    • Bryce isn't a risk-taking gunslinger.  That's just QB DNA.  No one has ever said that is what we were drafting when we went that route.  That's my point.  That's not Bryce. Can you make Alex Smith throw deep? Sure.  He will occasionally.  In the reverse, can you ask Brett Favre to just take the easy layups? Sure.  He can in moments.  But in the end, they are what they are.  as I have said, Canales probably could win more games with PJ Walker.  And Bryce is a better overall QB than PJ.  PJ Walker would also have much worse games mixed in that Bryce would.
    • From what i see, Canales offense requires a QB that is willing to take chances to maximize the offense. XL is also the kind of receiver that needs a qb to be risky to bring out his full potential. Its just a matter of if Bryce is gonna be that QB.
    • Baker just played how Baker played.... everywhere but here. He is a risk taking gunslinger.  Always has been.  And last year was asked to be what he was.   Geno Smith was the best deep ball passer in the NFL his comeback season.  Wasn't even close that year.  Again, that's the type passer Canales has always been around in the offenses he has been part of.  The pass game that compliments the stubborn run is the deep chunk play pass game.   And that was his first investment with XL.  My continued point, is the same as going into last season.  It's a bad marriage going in.  The QB doesn't fit the scheme.  Again.  Carrol/Fox/Ron....all paired up their boring football with risk taking QBs.  And again, I'm fine if that is where we are going.  It's not my preference but that's not my argument.  I'm saying if we are doing that, we need a QB that matches it.
