OTAs May 28

Had to dip out of practice early. Some things: -

C.Newton not out there. Can’t imagine it’s a thing. Not like he’d be throwing, anyway -

I.Thomas, T.Smith still working on side -D.

Jackson tremendous 1-hand catch (vid later)

-L.Kuechly leaping INT of K.Allen began team drills

Cam Newton absent today. A personal day from what I understand.

Luke Kuechly intercepted a pass over the middle & took it to the house on 1st play of team. Looks to be adjusting well to changes on D. “What can we do to help ourselves? And I think this (scheme) gives us that opportunity. I’m always down to learn something new,” Luke told me.

Notable from OTAS - Luke Kuechly had a pick to open, and a pick near the end of the workout. Curtis Samuel stretched out for a highlight reel deep ball from Allen; landed hard and was really slow to get up/trainers attended (maybe got the wind knocked out of him).

Curtis Samuel with the play of the day, getting by the secondary and diving for a deep ball from Kyle Allen. Was a little slow to get up. Teammates applauded the effort.

Mario Addison just said he anticipates having about 45 interceptions this year if he’s dropping into coverage more often.

The Riot Report Retweeted The Riot Report

Also said he’ll be playing at 255 instead of 262 this season.

    • Been here since the Coliseum days. Hornets were the first pro team I ever rooted for. If they're ever going to get out of the gutter they have to establish a culture. They are trying to do that. I have no idea if it will be successful but it's a start.
    • I don’t think I'd go that far but there is definitely legitimate reason to ask how much he actually values winning and being great as a basketball player. He is very easily distracted with off the court stuff. This has been a public criticism of people like LeBron James with some of the newer generations of "stars". And it is 1000% valid and needed to be said. All I can say is I hope this is the year. If it is it will be apparent fairly early on. But I get the sense if the same themes continue as the upcoming season progresses the FO could look to move him before the trade deadline. It would suck for a multitude of reasons and I don't want to see it happen but if it did it would be on LaMelo and LaMelo alone because they've given him the keys and are finally putting pieces around him. If he wants to be a great basketball player and win he will be here and do what is necessary for the team to be successful. If not well....
    • Haha.  I remember my first Hornets season.
