I don't think Olsen is there yet. He seems to be under the radar.

I think Greg was beginning to be in the conversation in 2016 when he had his 10 year Ironman streak going of never missing a game, plus the 3 years of back to back 1000 yard seasons.

Following two years of injury he's dropped off the radar.

Newton isn't, but Kuechly definitely is IMO.  5x 1st Team All-Pro (6x Pro Bowler), 2013 DPOY, and 2012 DROY, and was a 2nd team All-Pro in 2016.  He has more All-Pros and only 2 less Pro Bowls than Urlacher, who is already in the Hall.

He's got ways to go before he's a 1st ballot lock, but he's going to the Hall of Fame at one point even if it took 5-6 years before he got voted in.  He's been universally considered a top 20 player and the best at his position since 2013.  And guys who win DPOY almost always get inducted unless they accomplished little outside of that (although Pat Swilling isn't in, but almost certainly because they probably hold it against him for playing with the Dome Patrol, unfair or not).  Kenny Easley with a similar resume to Kuechly, albeit at safety, got in as well despite having an injury-shortened career.  I think Kuechly is guaranteed, unless I guess he turns into a terrible player in the second half of his career and it clouds everyone's opinion of him.  But that seems unlikely.

I was going to make this point so thanks for saving me the effort. Bottom line: Kuechly could retire today and he would make the hall of fame, no question. He's much closer to being a first ballot hofer than not in at all.

Cam is close. He would definitely benefit from a couple rebound, pro bowl caliber seasons to cement things but if I was a betting man, I'd say he eventually gets in even if he retired today. His insane rushing stats as a qb and the MVP trophy plus super bowl appearance is probably enough.

Agree. If he could have another few big seasons he could be back in the mix again. People have forgotten how clutch he was when we needed a big catch.

Greg..definitely...Cam...not even close..as passer hes avg at best... and he needs 2k yds to become nfl all time leadind rushing QB. Stop with that nonsense.

No one is going to argue Cam would come close to making it for his passing but you're definitely underselling his accomplishments as a running qb. He's got 15 more rushing tds than any qb that has ever played. He's 120 yards away from 2nd most rushing yards by a qb all-time (which he'll probably get by week 3?). He's 1300 yards away from Vick, who is such an outlier no one is even within 1000 yards of him (and Cam is certainly on track to pass him).

You might be right; I just get the feeling between destroying the qb td record and excelling enough as a dual threat qb to win an mvp he'd enter the conversation. We'll probably get a better sense once Vick is eligible and see if he garners much support. If he doesn't, probably means Cam has quite a ways to go.
