Honest Non-emotional Football response

and with new personnel packages. That's my only gripe. Why not respond to what the opponent is doing regardless of preseason. You don't have to scheme. We did much better in the third quarter when we ran 21, 12, 13 personnel. I really hope that's not a long-term strategy. Later in the fourth we had to pass and it went right back to crap. Did the coaches want this type of tape to look at, to coach these guys up? It is possible I guess.

It's hard to get everyone the reps that they need in practice to simulate a game situation. I think that's where the break down occurred. That said, I've not seen a Pre-season like this since the Panthers in 2010 had Jimmy Clausen at the helm. Generally, when you fail to score touchdowns in preseason, it doesn't bode well for the regular season.

I thought our offense was putrid regardless of formation or personnel. Much of it was related to simple route concepts and an inability of guys to get open. Any time we had a decent play, penalty flag. I have a hard time believing that 75% of penalties being called this preseason won't be ignored during the Regular Season as well.

    • Lions were never going Freeling over Miller for the same reason we wouldn't have taken Miller had Freeling not been on the board. Miller is a career RT Lions have a hole at RT, we have a hole at LT. If we took Miller, it would have been for him to backup Moton until he retires and/or we release him, so the best case scenario is it would have been a wasted 1st round pick for at least 1, if not 2 years.  At least Freeling has a shot at playing this year without injury ahead of him, he absolutely can win the LT job if he earns it, but Miller would have never supplanted Moton this year unless he got hurt.
    • What up y’all. I like threads like this where we can stroll down memory lane. I remember the insane amount of site traffic pre-crash when we signed Keyshawn Johnson, 06 I believe. Raging about the Cowboys Christmas Eve loss in 05 (Peppers touched that FG attempt as sure as Cotchery caught it). When I found the huddle I basically had a first born baby, now I’ve got one in college and one in high school. Life comes at you fast, but the Panthers and the Huddle has been a steady constant in my life for many years.  Those who have been here, y’all are cool with me any time any where.    Cheers, genitals!
    • This is a weird post since it wasn’t like we got A’s across the board. We needed a QB and got a consensus top 2 player at that position. (I was pretty vocal that Stroud should’ve been the guy but…)  I think this draft we generally got better value. I’m not particularly optimistic on BY but another year in this offense playing with TMac he really needs to be a consistently average QB at a minimum
