Defending Rivera

Mr. Scot

I think its painfully obvious the game has passed Rivera by and his buddy hiring system sucks. When he went for 2 when the score was 16-24 had to be one of the dumbest moves in coaching history, that alone should be a fire-able offense without taking into account all the other dumb crap he has pulled over the years.

One of my big issues with him, refusing outside hires for important coordinator jobs. Chud leftd, gave the keys to Cam to Shula of all people..... DC job was handed to Wilkis, then to Washington. Seems hes scared an outsiders would be a threat to his job.

Replacing high football IQ with lower IQ over and over. Norv helped put a stop to the offense side, still hes NO threat to take away the HC title form Ron. Nothing wrong with hiring an smart coach on the come up.

Has had multiple defenses ranked in the top 10

This isn’t an endorsement for Ron, just thought I’d highlight some of the positives. I like the guy as a person, but I think maybe it’s time to move on. The same issues he had in year one he still has today.

Who's defense was it, Ron or McDermott's? Coach of the year was won in 2013 and 2015 thanks to McDermott's defense (2013) and Camvp + McDermott's defense (2015). The only thing Ron is good at outside of being a players coach is having an answer for every question.

We need tall receivers, we need a faster offense, we need pressure up front, the list goes on and on.

Let's not forget his favorite rhetoric, the answer is on the roster. He got the right people under him which is a credit to him, but neither his coaching, nor his playcalling had anything to do with the monster defenses we ran in those years.
