sounds like a conversation in passing that made reid feel important.   tepper is around.  when i had bosses i had lots of conversations like this, conversations i later realized i was the only one that remembered.

I guess.  On the other hand, the Panthers could come out publicly and say "no, we aren't signing Colin Kaepernick", and that would be the end of the story.  Instead we're going to grow this into an unnecessary distraction just because we don't want to offend one person

Nothing about Reid talking to Tepper about going to see his personal friend work out is INHERENTLY political.

Yes it is.  Colin Kaepernick is a 32 year old who hasn't played football in three years, when he went 1-11 and was benched twice for Blaine Gabbert.  The Kaepernick discussion is 100% political.  Accusing the people who are annoyed by the political detour of being politically motivated is a childish slight of hand tactic.

This is how it works:

The vast majority of NFL fans want to focus on football.  A small, loud minority of politically motivated people bring up Colin Kaepernick, a person who's been a political figure for the last three years.  When the real football fans kick back at the political talk, the small, motivated, loud political people accuse everyone else of not only being political, but being intolerant, bigoted, and so on.  It's like dealing with a crazy girlfriend.

Look back through the thread and see the people who veered it that way. It wasn't but a small few and you were one.

The rest of us were focused on the football and team aspects. I'm am just as sick as anyone else about all the political poo invading sports. But this discussion did not start out politically motivated.

No, I certainly wasn't.  It was political well before I chimed in, and I responded directly to a person who accused certain fans of hating Kaepernick more than losing, which is obviously braindead nonsense.  I normally don't post here, but it's essentially the public square for Panther fans, and I don't like seeing well intentioned people getting maligned.  The people snapping back aren't the non-fans.  They're good, devoted, life long fans who just want their team to keep their eye on the ball.

what i'm trying to say is i doubt tepper even remembers the conversation, if he even heard it in the first place.   bosses like to nod their heads and pretend they're listening when employees with agendas talk.     no way we're signing him.  we're not even sending a rep.    i hope he makes it back in the league and plays well.  the nfl is better when he's breaking hearts.   he was so easy to hate before any of this started because of cockiness and ability to run on 3rd down.  well that whole harbaugh cocky ass team was so easy to hate.

If Kap is involved it is all political

I am going to disagree with that. He was a football player long before he was a political activist. Aside from the people that are obsessed with politics, it is still possible to have a Kaepernick football discussion.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want the guy because he wasn't a good NFL QB IMO and he mocked Cam Newton in a game. But, if it has matured personally, is actually capable of playing anymore, and comes at a cheap price, I would have no issue signing him as a veteran back up option. He'd be a heck of a lot better than Grier, IMO.

Yeah but you also got triggered by one of the known board trolls and jumped into the fray. Just start putting people like that on "ignore." They only exist to stir the pot and create mayhem because they can't find a purpose in their regular lives. I was stubborn about using the "ignore" feature as well but Jeremy was ultimately right, it is easiest to just put the trolls on ignore.

Yeah I know what you meant, but it's also true that the Panthers could preemptively kill the elephant in the room by saying they're not interested.

"Triggered" makes it sound like I'm offended.  I was just punching back at a bully.  I don't like bullies.  A troll is just a bully hiding in a basement.

It's not bullying when it isn't directed at you. He is trolling because he is throwing out a statement, not specifically directed at anyone, but 100% designed to trigger people and make them upset. Don't make him successful, just ignore him. If you come here often, you will recognize the people that are only here to stir the pot. He's one of them.
