I’m all for free agency but gurneys too cheap bro

He is. I would love for the team to add some picks and draft some players later---WR and T are pretty deep. If we need a QB--and I think there is about a 40% chance we could draft a QB.

Look at our OL last year---Little had concussions and missed training camp and games--we had to throw in a developmental rookie 5th rounder at LT.  Our LG hurt his toe, and we had to move Williams over--recovering from surgery the year before.  Our C was recovering from surgery (broken Leg) from the year before and his strength was not fully restored.  The left side of the line (as I predicted before the season) determined our success.

In 2020--Little will be older--he will learn in camp and preseason.  Daley got 9 games of starting experience last year--he will be much better; Paradis will be stronger..

I am talking myself into thinking Marty will not take a T.

1. LT:  Little had a black cat in his path last year.  A lot can happen between years 1 and 2.  He was nearly a first rounder---if anyone answered Marty's calls---so let's say year 2 will be great for Little and not assume the worst.   OR

Dennis Daley was not as bad as some of you think.  To compare him to other rookies is fair.  he held his own.  He is a late bloomer, and I think Marty thinks he or Little will win the LT job.  Daley started 9 games at LT with no help at LG when Williams was there.  Take this fwiw:  https://www.panthers.com/video/dennis-daley-ranked-among-pff-s-top-5-rookies

LG:  Daley or Little.  Whoever loses the LT job.  I see Daley with the best skill set for LG, (Little would be better at RG, maybe).  Do not discount the experience he got last year.  Speed rushers with no run responsibility--being targeted by defensive coordinators, etc.  Year 2 will be better.

C. Paradis.  Yes, we need to draft a C, but Paradis' injury caused him to lose strength--at least that is a theory in the Charlotte Observer in Nov:  " it may take more time before Paradis’ leg is back to full strength."  Healing is one thing, but a broken leg with the ankle problems that follow cause the leg to atrophy.  You are not injured--you are just weak.  Paradis got a nose and was bull rushed a lot when teams smelled blood.   I think he will improve.

RG:  Trai Turner is a beast--an overrated beast.  Yet he gets the job done--above average.

RT: Moton is getting better.  He allowed 5 sacks this season in 1100+ snaps-some 700 were pass plays--many of those vs. DEs OLBs not worried about the run.

If Marty believes in Little and if Daley can take the LG job---will he draft OL early?  Lotta ifs, but it is possible 3 OL positions get better using the 2019 roster.

Yes, I know we need some help---but is it as bad as it seems?

What we need is depth. We will not survive if Darryl Williams is the backup they have to keep plugging in. He was on a 1 year contract. We'll see if he re-signs but I hope not. And those games with him in at LG didn't help Paradis any more than it didn't help Daley.

Yeah, we need to bring in competition.  The more I think about it---the more I think they will take OL late---like they did Daley.  I expect a C and a G---I really think they could feel set at OT at this stage of the process.  Just guessing.

I think right now I'm leaning towards signing a older (a guy with 1 or 2 years left to play)vet OT for insurance and depht for Littleand Daley to learn from.... Go after  a higher valued vet OG who can play center like Thuney .. Draft some Olinemen later in the draft.. for depth...

    • Sorry man you lost me at "Teppers have evolved as owners". Limped into playoffs at 8-9 not even above .500 Tepper is trash as an owner bro and that's not even a discussion at this point. 37-83 w/l ratio. Nuff said.... Morgan tho, he's cooking and it ain't cuz of Teppers leadership
    • After listening to Morgan's presser twice, I came away with some key beliefs. First of all, I don't think he's a bullshitter. What you see is what you get. When he says something, he means it.  The Teppers really have evolved as owners. Morgan has mentioned how they're easy to work with--a pleasure to work with a few times now. There seems to be a good relationship between all of them (and include Dave Canales on that). We'll see if it lasts. Yes, no one wanted to come to Carolina with the previous management, but that seems to have changed. The team signed arguably the top Edge, LB and OT on the market, two of them on pretty good deals and one on what I'll say is "not a bad one." And, credit Sunshine Dave "Flowers and Cotton Candy" Canales for helping to change the culture. Morgan mentioned getting guys--and I'm paraphrasing--that are not only great football players but great people. Don't look for us to be acquiring any James Pearce types anytime soon, just saying. We'll see if that holds true in the future. Dan Morgan really has set up the Panthers to take the BPA/BAP. He mentioned it at least a couple of times, and he doesn't seem pressured to pinpoint a particular position. He just wants quality players that will help the team. This is how it's going to be (to your joy or dismay, probably for as long as he's here), and personally I love it. Many of us know how Morgan was when he played: aggressive! That's what he's going to be when making acquisitions. He explicitly said it, and emphasized it. All avenues are open (think FA, waivers...the draft)! Personally, as long as it's controlled aggression and not reckless aggression, I love it.  On KP: "Mobility is big in this league."  He basically says if another QB is the BPA while drafting--we're going by our board, people--we're going to add them.        ...
    • Canes are so fascinating. Despite inconsistent defense and poor goalie play they keep winning.
