Upset Pick of the Week

I find it amusing that they say Sean Payton for the 2nd Half Coach of the Year. Not because of the pick, but for the reason. He will be this because the schedule for the Saints is soft for the rest of the year....not because of his coaching ability.

Much intellijents was used on that article.

I think there's good reason to believe an upset is possible. The Saints are due to have a bad game. Sustaining winning streaks beyond 5 or 6 games is quite hard to do, and the Saints now have a 7 game streak (the law of averages comes into play here). We are overdue for a good game from ALL aspects of our team (offense, defense, and special teams). We match up well against the Saints, and we did sweep them last year, including a blowout here in Charlotte. If Jake has a good game, I believe we win this. That's a big if, but he finally had an outting this past Sunday where he didn't throw an INT, and Smitty finally scored via a pass. The "D" has been looking more and more effective, and the running game is jelling.

If we can avoid falling behind by a large margin early on, we can pull this off.

    • Everyone says AT was old and slow but the one thing he could do consistently was get separation. That takes skill and it's been a huge issue in our WR for years. And while Moore may be a great locker room guy and our WR coach may be a 12 year vet, he's not playing in the game. Vets like AT do what they do because they can see things others don't and exploit it. The DB interview I mentioned before was with Stephon Gilmore after his DPOY season. He was pulling the younger DBs aside showing them things you wouldn't even think you'd be able to tell from the way the receiver was standing.  Seeing what a DB or LB is biting on in game that can give you that half step advantage is huge and we don't have that experience in our WR group right now and I think it could end up hurting us. None of our receivers have lined up against NFL corners successfully on a regular basis. Having someone that can walk over and give you a tip to get a half yard separation can be a difference maker.
    • We only fielded about 4 NFL calibre players on that unit last year.
    • only 1 QB in the history of mankind has managed a winning record with his opportunities in the David Tepper era.    Bring in PJ.   He has NFL tools.  He will at least be entertaining if called upon.  How is that not better than Andy.  *PJ Walker bandwagon is back up now that it is....not...time for for the percolator.
