we should trade burns while he still has value

All beginning of the season thoughts behind us, I for one am so glad we have a player like Brian burns on the team, I truly believe he will be a strong leader and team player for us for a long time, his speech to the team, on the sidline during the bucs game was so encouraging, to watch someone so talented and quiet publicly show that  in the trenches with his team he holds himself and everyone else accountable, then backs it all up on the field every week win lose or tie. I’m buying his jersey this week it’s going right next to my mills, Davis and keek jerseys.

I can't believe that this is a topic of thought?!? Why would a smart team trade away 1 of their most productive players who is in his 2nd year of his career in this league??? May as well trade McCaffrey while we're at it!! Probably should call the team the Carolina Jets or Carolina Dolphins just for shites & giggles.

Such a boneheaded consideration. Trading a 2nd year player who is showing greatness to get a pick or 2 in the next draft so the team can try to develop them for 2 years away.

To be fair this topic was brought up prior to the season when some felt that burns couldnt transition from a 3/4 OLB to a 4/3 DE.  I never agreed with that, but its unfair to bring up topics like this months later

Again look what he did as a rookie before he hurt his wrist. He was playing great.

    • Pretty sure that a QB contract payday is all the competition any QB in this league needs, I don't think a competent backup is going to make them play any harder when the current situation wouldn't warrant the contract extension yet anyways. Your opening point in this post is also the problem, "Bryce has shown signs of improving", but that's still all he's shown, and he's only showing that because of just how bad he was to start his career. If he played like last season from the beginning and never improved one bit, then I actually think more fans would be ready to move on from him, which is what's weird.  It's like going from one of the biggest draft busts of all time into the 25th best QB in the league over 3 years means he deserves a long term $40+ million a year contract extension. Improvement shouldn't be the goal when the result of said improvement is still bottom of the league levels.
    • Yeah, but we've seen him do it. Just not often. I think that's the reason for the taller WRs. Would likely be a problem finding someone like Jimmy Horn in the mess.
    • And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
