I'm convinced you're a character right now and playing this up.

Anyway guess I'll use this thread to voice my opinion of Fields.

Don't like him. Especially as a Day 1 starter. Absolutely a playmaker with a great and and a high ceiling, and my critism for him are ones you could raise about Cam coming out: Field Vision and Ball Placement, but he's really bad at these things and with no Big 10 it's hard to say how much he's improved. He reads one thing the starts dancing around the pocket. And he's locked onto that target for his entire time back there. He doesn't stay set in the pocket and move around. He dances around and puts the play at risk. His ball placement is atrocious and he got away with it a lot because his receivers were often wide open. Seperation like that doesn't happen too often in the NFL and throws like that can be deadly.

However it's all coachable. And if he sits a year behind Teddy I wouldn't mind it too much. But he's far more a wip than Trevor and I think he's a huge risky boom or bust pick. I wouldn't take that risk for the asking price of a top 5 pick personally. If he was in the Jordan Love ado range then that'd ease my worries a lot. But he reminds me of a Love or EJ Manuel, but with better arm talent in the case of the latter.

If he ends up the pick though I'll live with it.

I’ll disagree about the dancing. I watched every start and felt like he didn’t run enough. I look at guys like Herbert having success and don’t see why he would need to take a year.

All of his flaws are fixable. Personally, he reminds me of Deshaun Watson, who would be regarded as an elite QB if BoB wasn't a dogshit coach/GM. Obviously, I'd want him to sit behind Teddy for a bit before he takes the reigns.

3. JUSTIN FIELDS – OHIO STATE

Preseason Rank: 16; Week 6 Rank: 4; Week 12 Rank: 2

The season didn’t finish how they wanted, but Fields did more than impress in his first season as the man in charge in Columbus. He finished the year with an elite passing grade of 92.5 after completing 238-of-356 attempts for 3,273 yards and 41 touchdowns against just three interceptions, two of which came against Clemson in the Playoff. Fields was head and shoulders above the rest of the nation in several categories this year, and only Joe Burrow ranked ahead of him in most others. He was just behind Burrow in passing grade on a variety of important metrics (vertical lead, horizontal lead, kept clean, 10+ yards, 10-19 yards and more) but was the nation’s highest-graded passer on pure dropback pass attempts. On straight drop concepts, Fields completed 193-of-270 attempts for 2,556 yards and 33 touchdowns.

His 24 big-time throws were a near-the-top figure, and his adjusted completion percentage of 78.1% is by far the highest in the country among quarterbacks who averaged at least 10.5 yards per target on straight dropback attempts. He is every bit the downfield, pure passer in the 2021 NFL Draft class, and he should be one of the heaviest favorites for the 2020 Heisman Trophy entering fall camp later this year.

For Herbert it was a big question about his descsion making. Which I'll concede is just as bad as the problems listed, and with that said Herberts play the past two weeks even impressed me and I was a supporter of his here for a pick.

But something personally just feels...off about Fields to me. I'll absolutely eat crow if I'm wrong, hell even if he starts who says he can't develop like Josh Allen has, but I dunno. Just not my favorite prospect.

Just posted a clip above about him being the best pure drop back passer last year, even better than Burrow, and it had a clip where he went through what appears to be four reads to complete a deep ball in a big game against their rival.

Clips like this ease me too. Stayed in the pocket and scanned the field well. Really wish the Big 10 had some sort of play this year.

It's a talented class and even outside of QBs there's a lot we could do with a top 5\top 10 pick. Whatever happens this staff, whoundoubtedly know more than me, haven't give me a reason to distrust them.
