Yeah, I always caveated the whole only Paradis is signed for 2021 (ugh) among our starters because I thought Daley was still hurt and he absolutely was listed as LG starter before week 1. Now that he’s been a healthy scratch I feel even worse about our OL. Thankfully we are working around it unlike Ron and Mikey.

Thats was my whole reason breaking the #1 rule  and picking Sewell over the QBs. Panthers need a whole new starting 5. Paradis is not playing like 2019 dogshit, still something needs to be done with his contract cause its at the cut point. Unless someone form practice squad(maybe 2) can level up, all thats realistic for 2021 panther OL is doghouse Daley and Unknown Little. I have seen where its shaping up to be a good OL draft, but its 2020. You can not start 4 rookies on OL and panthers may have 25 million in cap space (total). Its a HUGE issue. If you count for 2021 rookie money and tag Moton, you have around 4 million left to fill out a roster that needs LBs, DBs, TEs, and depth everywhere. Again the panthers must hit on its rookie class... and honestly do it again in 2022..

Don't have their stats in front of me, but just from observing them both, I'd guess they're pretty similar when compared at the same age.  Gano was never super consistent from what I remember, give or take one or two years here, and I' someone who lobbied to bring him here after he was let go by WSH.

Gano's general accuracy was way better. Put Slye on the left hash(I think its the left maybe its the right) and he misses something awful, If memory serves me correct, anywhere else Slye is fine.

First, we are 100% in agreement that OL is a gigantic issue and that we screwed ourselves on cap (Short rollover = Moton tag). Second, I still would never go LT over Lawrence and Fields. You can go to the SB with a mediocre LT and a great QB. You cannot go to the SB with a great LT and a mediocre QB.* Even though I clearly know that we aren’t trying to tank, one of the reasons I wasn’t opposed to starting Grier was to get a rookie QB we knew wouldn’t get us to the playoffs until 2023 (2022 if we were lucky). I knew the OL was crap and we had no one signed for 2021 except our worst 2019 lineman. Without Teddy we’d have an extra 3rd, 5th and 6th. 2021 draft could have 4 IOL drafted in the 3rd, 3rd, 5th and 6th and we’d still have Lawrence, pick 33, pick 100ish and first pick in the 5th, 6th and 7th to add LBers, CBs, TEs and whatever else. Extend Moton and Okung (maybe just 1 or 2 years) and you should have a decent OL in 2021 and hopefully solid OL in 2022 with all the IOL, Moton and a 2022 T/Okung. Fill in a couple more holes in the 2022 draft and all that saved cap from Teddy and Short becomes two top 2022 FAs.

* Just because I know someone will say it, not talking about teams with so much other talent that a mediocre QB and mediocre LT can make the SB like an 85 Bears.

    • They are the least of Your worries, people on the team want to win.  You have to allow for a winning culture to have an opportunity, if you are the person responsible for creating it.
    • Do you honestly believe this is a team that will even be in contention for a playoff spot this year? To me, if you're not at minimum a genuine contender to make the playoffs, every win you get is a meaningless win in the end.  This is the NFL, it's not peewee league where you just want to win a few games and have fun, you want to get into the playoffs and have a shot at making a SB run. We haven't had a winning season in how many years?   Does "enjoying" a small handful of wins every year really make for an enjoyable season for you? I said it months ago and I'll say it forever, I don't care about winning or losing this year, as we don't have a playoff caliber roster yet and I'm a realist about where we are as a franchise.  I'd enjoy watching the games so much more if the team and Bryce in particular were just showing marked improvement, even if it came in losses.   Because THAT would give me hope for the future of the franchise and the direction we're going. Bryce was complete garbage in Week 1, in Week 2 he was terrible until the Cardinals went into super soft prevent defense and then collapsed gain when the game was in reach, and he was a serviceable game manager today, but didn't make any throws that any college QB couldn't make. This game was a perfect chance to let Bryce go out there and play loose because of the lead, just let him be himself and see if it sparks his college self.  But instead, we went unbelievably conservative with the play calling to help ensure the win, when actual wins and losses are the least of our worries this year, it's figuring out what Bryce can be (fans may be decided, but the team obviously has not yet). I don't want to make the playoffs every few years, I want to contend for SBs. I just don't get anything out of 6-11 type of seasons anymore, they're way more frustrating on the whole to be able to actually enjoy the few wins just because our shitty team got a win for a change.
