Smitty

If this franchise gets rid of Steve Smith before it does Jake Delhomme, Im telling yall, thats an image hit that will take a long time to come back from. Last season Chad Ocho Cinco got into it with his coaches after having the worst year of his career, he had gone to the press in the offseason and said he wanted out of Cincy, and he publicly criticized his QB. And you know what? Marv Lewis WORKED IT OUT. This season Chad's getting the ball and is back happy, the Bengals are 6-2, and look like they are on the cusp of a playoff birth. Why cant John Fox do that? You telling me Marv Lewis is a better coach than John Fox? He can handle adversity/hothead superstar players better than Fox & Co? Smitty hasnt done half of what Ochocinco has and yet his team still sticks by him and wants him to retire a Bengal. We owe #89 the same treatment.

Oh if we get rid of Smith and keep Delhomme it would be completely stupid. Given that there is no cap next season, Delhomme should be released immediately upon season's end and should be out the door with several other players and coaches. Not just Smith.

That is my belief. It's not that Smith is THE problem. But he is A problem, and that it's best for him and this team to part ways.

Only to a hermit such as yourself who never travels outside of Meck County. Me defending Foster while he was here is not worse than you sticking up for a lameduck coach like Fox or a joke of a QB like Jake. You have 0 cred around here buddy. I swear man the mentality around here is so damn small time. Steve Smith without question is the most recognizable and liked player on this team NATIONALLY. Ive met NFL fans all over this country who the only player they know on our roster is Steve Smith. And of course Jake Delhomme because of his poor play. D Will nor Beason are not the draw that 89 is or was. They may be big around here, but nationally, UNH UNH. If you Panther employees and undercover Smith-haters think dumping Steve Smith is gonna leave a good lasting impression on Jerry Richardson's legacy you're sadly mistaken. The Panthers FO reputation is about as low as its ever been, keep making dumbass decisions and see how far it goes. This franchise is on the cusp of destruction.

1. I have defended Fox and Jake before, but I'm though with Jake. I don't know exactlly what point, but sometime last year. I still support Fox, but the Jake decision is killing me. Just like Foster he isn't the best option even if he is the all-time franchise leading passer.

2. Who the fug cares what people think of us nationally? We needs us some repscept for ESPNZ?? I don't care about that. If somone from King Taharqaville doesn't know who D-will is, it doesn't hurt my feelings one bit. But it doesn't change the fact that this is John Beason and Deangelo Williams football team. Best players and best attitude. They are untradable unless it is a Hershall Walker deal. Steve Smith a player who best year are a behind him. Tradable.

3. Jerry Richardson legacy. Don't care again. And keeping, trading, releasing Smith whatever the, decision, will not even leave a blip on it. Here is a secret Smith is not that big.

4. You used the dumb mangement line last year and that we are doomed. I think you said that the franchise is destined for LA or some crap, I can not remember. But no matter if we are 12-4 or 3-5 it is the same poo. You are a drama queen.

He is the most recognizable player yes... but I think you go to far when you say we're on the "cusp of destruction"

There's comes a time when you let loose your veteran players. The teams that know when to do that are good ones. It's time for Steve Smith to go. His best days are behind him and he's no longer worth the trouble he causes, as he's just a good WR now. He's not a super star.

Honestly, you really believe that?

How many playoff games has Jon Beason & DeAngelo Williams won for us since its "their team"? Are we gonna post a winning record this season? :frown2: Steve Smith is still the best and most respected player in Carolina.

Oh yea lol, yall kill me too man

Smith has fallen off, his best days are behind, he isn't the same

When just last year he was the single factor from us going 12-4, to 10-6. If he didn't do what he did in the Packers & Saints game, we might not have even went to the playoffs. The defending of Jake is just nothing I've seen before, I mean its ridiculous. Knowing our QB is that bad, you make those comments and feel extremely strong about them. Also knowing if Smith was with the Colts, you wouldn't anybody dare say those things. If you say he's having an off year, just like the team. Thats fine, but yall taking it to another level

I agree. Someone like Smith just doesn't drop off that fast. Our QB is making the entire passing game look bad.

Steve isn't the best any longer......Williams is.

Some of the blind loyalty to Smitty on here is honorable, but short-sighted.

If you traded Steve Smith to...let's say Chicago. How many good years do you think he'd have there? His best years are clearly behind him. He might jump up and get 1,000 yards or 100 catches again once or twice, but 2005 Smitty is gone. Unless he's on steroids.

Right now his attitude is a problem and his production, whatever the cause, isn't justifying the headaches. If you traded him my guess is the locker room would rally around Fox and this team would make a run at the playoffs. Keep him and this team implodes and finishes 6-10.

How the fug do you expect him to produce when the 11 players on the other side of the field know with 90% certainty what we're going to do each time we line up? Also, I don't see anyone else out there catching the ball, other than the occasional tight end, produce anything either...

You can't make a trade now anyways, so moot point there, n00b...

    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
